Subject: Circulation of Tentative Admission Cycle for Admissions 2027 – Reg
Sir/Madam,
In the 48th Meeting of the Senate of NIFT held on 30.04.2026 at 10:30 AM through hybrid mode, the matter regarding the proposed preponement of the Admission Cycle for Admissions 2027 was deliberated and discussed in detail.
You are aware that any change in the established admission timeline is a challenging exercise, as it may either prove beneficial or adversely impact candidate registrations. The latter aspect is of greater concern for NIFT, particularly in view of the declining response in certain academic programmes.
Initially, a tentative plan was prepared for preliminary interactions with NTA, which conducts the NIFT Entrance Examination, in which it was proposed to commence the admission cycle from June/July 2026. However, subsequent developments arising out of the unfortunate NEET-related issues have significantly affected the functioning of NTA. Various investigating agencies have cordoned off certain sections of the NTA office and, consequently, the Admissions Department has not been in a position to pursue detailed discussions with them during this critical period.
At present, the immediate priority of NIFT is to ensure the timely declaration of results for Admissions 2026.
The Senate decided that the proposed Admission Cycle for Admissions 2027 may be circulated among all Campus Directors, CPs, and Heads for their views and suggestions, if any.
Accordingly, the tentative timeline, without consultation with NTA, is enclosed herewith for your kind inputs and comments for further consideration and final decision.
It is pertinent to mention that one of the most crucial factors in finalizing the admission calendar/dates is the schedule of Class 10+2 examinations conducted by various Boards, along with the academic activities of NIFT. Therefore, the convenience of 10+2 students, including travel and climatic considerations, as well as the mental preparedness of Class 10+2 students, who are the primary stakeholders of NIFT, may kindly be taken into account while furnishing inputs by 29th May, 2026.
Further, this exercise cannot be finalized without the approval and concurrence of NTA, the agency presently functioning under tremendous pressure due to the ongoing NEET-related issues. Based on the inputs received from all concerned, the matter shall be taken up with NTA for further consideration.
It is also informed that the situation at the NTA office has not normalized so far.
Regards,
RAJ SINGH
