Call for Expression of Interest – Project Title: Collaborative Project Proposal Design & Product Diversification and Capacity Building for Silk Weaving cluster Yeola, Maharashtra’

Dear Faculty,

We are pleased to announce an upcoming Project Title: Collaborative Project Proposal Design & Product Diversification and Capacity Building for Silk Weaving cluster Yeola, Maharashtra’

In this regard, we invite Expressions of Interest (EOI) from faculty members at NIFT Mumbai who are interested in contributing to the project. We are seeking individuals with the following expertise:

Project Title: Collaborative Project Proposal Design & Product Diversification and Capacity Building for Silk Weaving cluster Yeola, Maharashtra’

 

The project objectives are as follows: 

Conservation and Diversification of Silk Weaving Crafts:Reinvent traditional crafts by integrating contemporary design elements.

Collaboration: Partner with artisans, weavers, designers, etc. to create innovative silk pieces that blend traditional Indian techniques such as technical weave design with novel/innovations.  

By highlighting the unique features of the clusters, “Brand Image” can be created.

Introduction of new and better raw materials to bring considerate design requirements. Key objective of the project is to design and develop material with relevant product diversification, which needs to be exclusively designed with the aspect of uniqueness, and capacity building. The key responsibilities include: sourcing/material and weaving technical inputs/design, and stakeholder management and interaction 

 

Faculty Team EOI for Project ……………………………………….

(i) The team may be led by faculty coordinator/s and should include more
members in such a manner that the competencies of the members are complementary to
each other and are not overlapping, in order to have a holistic team.
1. Design Members - Design Specialists will work on designs, conceptualisation.
Will also be responsible for sourcing and prototyping of the products. (A4
Competency – two members)
2. Textile Members - Textile specialist will work on textile material selection based
on special requirements that need to be matched with fibre/fabric of the desired
standards required by the client and will also be responsible for textile sourcing.
(G/C Competency (one each) with Innovation and professional projects experience
for introducing novelty and innovative interventions)
Each team member will be assigned specific tasks and responsibilities in each phase of
the project development.
