TheFRITZ!Box 5490 is the first glass fiber router of AVM. Besides the AON (SC-PC) fiber port instead of a DSL/Tel port it shares the same features as the 7490. A variant with a GPON port is the 5491. Note that the 5490 is a router only model, like cable models it does not provide an IP-Client mode and thus can not be a full Mesh-Client. However, if you don't need the fiber routing you can build the 7490 firmware for the 5490 using Freetz-ng and FREETZ_TYPE_549X_7490 and have all these missing operation modes.
Note that the information above is merged from all current Firmware versions available for this model, if there are multiples.
For a more detailed per Firmware view see the Firmware-Scans below, and have a look at the Firmware-History.
Daily updated index of all FRITZ!Box 5490 firmware modding projects. Last update: 2024-07-27 09:51 GMT.
This list excludes community ripping, code raping, project killing and permanent quarrel and combat enforcing individuals.
BoxMatrix tries to be a service to the community without doing harm to anyone, and not a platform to advertize the opposite.
Mother nature will bill for all time, manpower, projects, fun and passion which was ripped from the community for sick battle.
Let this reaver suck all honest work on this planet and pretend he knew it first. Mother nature will ripp it off his bones.
And if this sick (single sided) perversion continues I have no other option than invoking the police. Please someone stop him.
Daily updated index of all scanned FRITZ!Box 5490 tarballs, most of which are online. Last update: 2024-07-27 05:08 GMT.
The (main/scrpn/boot/arm/prx/atom) label in the Model column shows which CPU is meant for models with multiple Linux instances.
The Ver column shows the Firmware-Version derived from the tarball's filename, or 00.00 if not detectable.
There's no way to find this number in the source. Click the version number to get a listing of the entire tarball.
The Kern column shows the Kernel-Version from the kernel Makefile, click it to get a listing of the kernel source.
The BB column shows the BusyBox-Version from various scan sources, click it for listing the busybox addons.
The Libc and LcVer columns show the Libc-Library and its version where it could be detected, which is complicated, no listings yet.
The CC column shows the GCC-Version from its root Makefile, click it for a listing of the gcc source in the tarball.
The BR column shows the Buildroot-Version if detectable, click it for a listing of its source in the GCC tarball.
The Date column shows the date of the newest contained file. By default this list is reverse sorted by this date.
This is no perfect method, since AVM sometimes repackages older tarballs. No better method has been found so far.
I have my R2 directly connected to my Fritz 5490, R2 WAN set in DMZ in Fritz. But unfornutately I can't use any of the functions. Geolocation doesn't work but does show to be functioning in the interface. Ping heatmap gives error Cloud data has not been downloaded. Make sure you have an internet connection and click FORCE UPDATE.
Mine does the exact same thing its been like that since i updated to the new firmware. I just ordered an Asus gaming router, you spend more time troubleshooting this thing than actually getting any use out of it

I am trying to connect a media converter fro my OTO box to the router, so that it can convert optical fibre cable into normal RJ45 (ethernet). I am using the TP-Link MC220L with the SFP TL-SM321B(UN).
The Fritz!Box 5490 is an old model and only available via ISPs and released a bit more than 6 years ago. The successor model is the Fritz!Box 5530 Fiber, released about 1.5 years ago. The successor model is the Fritz!Box 5590 Fiber which was released about two weeks ago. A Fritz!Box 5550 Fiber has been announced but not yet released. It is similar to the 5590 but supporting more access technologies.
So an OTO (optical termination outlet) box is like an outlet that comes out of the wall, where you can connect yourself the fibre optic. It has multiple sockets, if you can call them that, in wich you can connect a LC single mode fiber optic connecter.
I do think I should configure some parameter of my WAN side. The thing is I do not really know what these parameters should be and where I can change them since I have no prior experience with Networking. All I could find was that I have a fixed /64 IPv6 Address, other than that I do not really know much about my ISP. My ISP is InterXS. Could you maybe tell me for what kind of information I should ask them because I am kinda lost on this side.
