The music was composed by Ouseppachan with popular choreographer-director Prabhu Deva choreographing the song sequences. [1][2][3] Bodyguard is considered by many critics as one of the best films ever made in Malayalam cinema and developed a cult following in the years after its release even when many compared it to Hindi film Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Dileep's performance was highly praised by other actors for this film.
The film revolves around young Jayakrishnan, who has a very strange habit: he adulates anyone with a trace of heroism. Whenever he develops an admiration towards a person, he prefers to move with that person as a sort of bodyguard. He starts admiring Ashokan, a former liquor tycoon and leading businessman. Jayakrishnan wants to be Ashokan's bodyguard, but Ashokan does not need one. Later, Jayakrishnan approaches Ashokan with a recommendation from someone he cannot refuse. He achieves his luck after saving Ashokan from danger. Jayakrishnan thus becomes the bodyguard of Ashokan's daughter Ammu. Jayakrishnan follows Ammu to her college as her bodyguard. Ammu and her friend Sethulakshmi get irritated with him following them all day.
Jayakrishnan takes his role as a bodyguard very seriously and follows the two girls around constantly. In an attempt to get rid of him, the girls make up a "fake lover", hoping to distract Jayakrishnan from his duties as a bodyguard, and their plan works. Jayakrishnan falls in love with a "Private Number" and is constantly looking for this girl, but he has no idea that his lover is Ammu. Ammu, as a joke, calls Jayakrishnan and speaks badly about Ammu. Jayakrishnan gets a little angry and disagrees with her. He believes Ammu is a good-hearted person. That is when the viewer is able to tell that Ammu is really falling in love with Jayakrishnan.
Ammu later tells Jayakrishnan to run away with her and meet her at a railroad station. Jayakrishnan agrees, not knowing that the girl is Ammu herself. Ashokan finds out, and he believes that Jayakrishnan and Ammu are planning to run away together. In order to save Jayakrishnan's life, Ammu lies that it is not her. Jayakrishnan is meeting another girl at the station. Ashokan lets Jayakrishnan go but tells others to kill Jayakrishnan if a girl does not show up. Terrified, Ammu sends Sethulakshmi to the station and tells her to tell Jayakrishnan that Ammu is the lover and she will not be able to make it to the station. Sethulakshmi, seeing Jayakrishnan, falls in love and admits that she is the lover and not Ammu. Ammu calls her twice, but Sethulakshmi throws the cellphone out, trying to erase Ammu out of their love life completely.
Years later, after Jayakrishnan's and Sethulakshmi's marriage, she bears a son Siddharth but unfortunately dies. Before her death, she leaves a diary for her Siddharth telling the whole story between the phone calls and his father and Ammu. Siddharth later goes to Ammu's house with Jayakrishnan to visit Ashokan. Jayakrishnan is shocked that Ammu is not married. Siddharth asks Ammu to become his mother, and Jayakrishnan is shocked and angry at Siddharth for saying something so blunt and rude. Ashokan begs Jayakrishnan to take Ammu as his wife. They go onto the train together, but Siddharth runs and throws the diary into a trash can nearby. Jayakrishnan finds the diary and realizes that his real lover, the girl who has waited for him for so many years faithfully, was Ammu. The film ends with Jayakrishnan, Ammu, and Siddharth hugging each other.

Different good songs are there in this film. Producer of these songs album by Ouseppachan. Everyone acted in this film very well, Especially Nayanthara. She acted with originality. I really liked her climax scene. Her face expression was great. I enjoyed a lot with this movie.
It's quite early in the year and the turkey has gobbled. Siddiq's Bodyguard is bafflingly boring and could best be enjoyed with a blindfold on. Keep a real sturdy bullet proof vest with special trauma pads tucked in handy to confront the several misfires that this Bodyguard lets off.
Jayakrishnan (Dileep) has had a strange penchant for juggling with risks ever since he was a small boy. He grows up admiring men who live on peril-ground and aspires to be a bodyguard to an almost legendary thug, Asokan (Thyagarajan). When the don's daughter Ammu (Nayantara) joins college, Jayakrishnan is sent along with her as her bodyguard, and it's not long before Cupid breaks their guard.
At this moment, do not even dare think of Kevin Costner or Whitney Houston. Any comparison with the Hollywood movie that goes by the same name could be quite far-fetched. This film on the other hand looks like a moth eaten version of a theme that obviously held some promise, but that ultimately failed to meet any of the requisites.
Easily Siddiq's worst script till date, Bodyguard hasn't an inkling as to where it's headed. If moving away from his strong comic forte wasn't recipe enough for disaster, Siddiq dabbles with romance and burns his unsure fingers. The romance in the film is half baked, fake and out-and-out dull. This film could never even dream of being a love saga as most of the situations that it depends on to push the yarn forward are nothing short of obtuse.
When the infamous railways station where almost all love tales wind up in Malluwood comes up, we breast ourselves for a dramatic climax. But what actually happens there in this case is almost unmentionable. I am not talking about spoilers here, I am talking instead of one of the most ridiculous twists witnessed in recent times that should leave an entire audience speechless, on account of its silliness. This isn't a twist really, it's a twist-till-it-snaps kind of a bombshell that makes the destruction complete.
The most off-putting instants in the film hence occur during the last fifteen minutes, when there are sudden jerks between flashbacks and when the final disclosure arrives, you feel sympathetic towards the Bodyguard. You realize that the script has made him out to be a man who has lived a life without any purpose, and who is as brainless as a jellyfish. And then suddenly, with barely five minutes left before the credits start rolling, everything starts working out like a keyed up alarm clock, and by the time the bell goes off, everything around him has fallen into place. And that includes his messed up life as well.
Dileep as the Bodyguard is strictly passable; the actor has seen better days and certainly better scripts. Thankfully, he doesn't strut around perking up his muscles except to rake up some laughter, though he does flash the dragon tattoo on an almost-bulging bicep. Nayantara in her new size zero avatar looks drop-dead dazzling and definitely makes eye-popper material.
