The Bilingual Mediation Center would like to spotlight one of its archival gems, The TBC News, available at https://visitbmc.com/index.php/from-bmc/tbc-news

The TBC News was the official newsletter of the Bicultural Center (1988 to 1993), which was co-directed by Betty Colonomos and MJ Bienvenu. Here, Betty Colonomos reflects on The TBC News:

The importance of The TBC News cannot be understated. One subscriber, Lianne Moccia, has this to say about The TBC News:

“Before the days of computers, the internet, and the access to information and communication that we now easily have at our fingertips, we relied on printed material, some that came to our mailboxes. There was nothing I more looked forward to getting than TBC News. It might be hard to imagine, but, in the interpreting/Deaf world community, each issue of TBC News brought ideas, conflicts, perspectives and challenges that I, for one, found nowhere else. Betty Colonomos and MJ Bienvenu initiated and encouraged conversations with Deaf people and interpreters, parents and educators on a wide range of topics. There were poems, photos, even cartoons (shout out to Kathleen Fraini). Contributors were from all parts of the US and the world and letters to the editor kept the dialogues going. It’s thrilling to see the archived editions of TBC News available---especially to provide a sense of history, of what’s come before and is still with us.”

The Bilingual Mediation Center, directed by Betty Colonomos, is pleased to provide the complete TBC News - over 70 issues - to stoke your nostalgia; to add to your library; to support your research; and to illuminate our history for a new generation. Enjoy!

Without further ado, we present The TBC News:
