Dear Interpreting Professional, Thank you so much in advance for your time in reading this as we are on our journey of becoming interpreters ourselves. Currently, we are interpreting students at Framingham State University (FSU), taking ASGN 340 Undergraduate Research in Interpreting. A part of our important study is to conduct research under the direction of Dr. Thomas Horejes. Your experiences matter, and your contribution will provide valuable insight that extends beyond this research study. By participating, you help shape meaningful research discussions that can lead to improvements in the interpreting profession. Our study will focus on two research topics: 1) to explore interpreters’ journey of why they became an interpreter, and 2) preferences regarding face-to-face and remote interpreting assignments. Participation is completely voluntary, and you may withdraw at any time. No identifying information will be collected, ensuring your responses remain confidential and anonymous. Our goal is to create a safe space for interpreters to share your perspectives without concern. You have the option to participate in one of the following ways (or both): - Survey – A brief set of questions you can complete at your convenience. If you are interested in sharing your preferences regarding face-to-face and remote interpreting assignments, this might be a better fit. The estimated time to complete this survey is about 15 - 25 minutes. The link can be found here <https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSeXdw_db4WHOEULhwmo8VQHcvkDqcTfUyp0_mLcwQhGxzqL-g/viewform?usp=header>and needs to be completed no later than April 16th, 2025. - Focus Group – A discussion-based option where we explore key themes in greater depth including your experience as an interpreter and why you became one. We will have this on April 9th, 2025 from 4:30 - 6:00 pm ET via zoom. If you’re interested in participating, please reply to ASGN340...@gmail.com by April 6th and we will send you more information. If you know of another interpreter who would have interest in participating, please inform them of this study. If you have any questions or need accommodations to participate, please don’t hesitate to reach out to ASGN340...@gmail.com. Sincerely, FSU Interpreting Students |
