Well, given the release of Snow Leopard and the complete overhaul of
Quicktime, coupled with the latest trend in crafting iTunes-esque,
library-based players, I think Jay's done his day's work and done it
pretty frickin well. I have yet to meet anyone who can claim they have
the perfect player of their dreams... but I know for me personally
NicePlayer comes really right near close.

iTunes is a joke. Quicktime... Apple keeps improving the technology
but the UI???? agh. Mplayer will always be for the technically
advanced. And the mass of aforementioned iTunes copycats, which at
least play more than just mp4 and mov files are all basically the
same. VLC - they've got user interface down to a science, it's
optioned to the max, it always works (although a little skittish
sometimes with movies of nonstandard dimensions, that Nice always
handles fine).

But NicePlayer is what I use every day. Despite it doesn't full screen
to my second monitor automatically. Despite the random function on the
playlist is too literally random. Despite the fact that it and OS X
are often fighting over who gets controlled by the remote control. But
then all the other players have a laundry list of wants and wishes
from their users too. But NicePlayer... it's just cool. And because it
works just as well as anything else, that makes it ok to be cool
without being pretentious.

I'm just laminating out loud - but regardless, thanks to Jay for
putting out an incredible app, a player that I will use until my G5
box drops dead - which doesn't seem like it'll be anytime soon.

I sure hope it isn't dead. Although the new Quicktime player is
simple, it doesn't have any simple preferences like Auto Play,
Remember Volume, and Hover On Top.

I really, REALLY love Niceplayer and I hope it can take advantage of
Snow Leopards speed improvements.
