Hey Guys! Sorry- it took me a while to figure out that I had to
accept the invitation to be a part of this group. whoops! Just
wanted to pass along the Camp Glow manual so yall could take a look at
it. Please read it and make a note of any particular ideas that you
like so that we can discuss them at our next meeting. You can find
it at: http://www.peacecorps.gov/multimedia/pdf/library/M0056_campglow.pdf

Also, Ive been talking to Greg about funding and reading over the
Partnership material. One of the most important things we need to be
thinking about is the 25% Community Contribution. Here are some of
the ideas he suggested:
However, the challenge will be raising the 25% community contribution.
Here are some ideas:

· Find a sponsor- the locale is willing to donate the space for
the week, someone with a bus is willing to provide transport, an NGO
that wants to contribute money, a Pali that is willing to provide
refrigerio.

· Fundraising- if each committee member works with the girls
they identify for the camp to raise $150-$200, that would come close
to the amount needed for the 25% contribution. Raffles, bake sales,
movie nights, etc. can all go a long way in raising funds for the
camp. Not to mention getting the participants more invested.

· Fees- Each participant pays a fee to attend the camp. Or
perhaps the alcaldías in each community would be willing to cover this
fee or make a donation.

· Or there could be some combination of all of the above.

As we talked about, this will be the trickiest part of the proposal.
It will be super grassroots and will require lots of creativity but
that’s what we’re all about! And I have no doubt that among the ten of
you, it will get done. Let me know if you want to chat more and I will
keep thinking.

So lets stay in touch and keep brainstorming. Thanks for all your
work!

Hope alls well!

Alison

Hey guys,

This manual looks very helpful - thanks for sending it along, Alison! Also, not sure if the budgets from Hotel Ticomo went through last time so I'm going to attach them again to this email. There are four budgets that the staff put together (1 with air-conditioned rooms, 1 with air-conditioned rooms and food, 1 with non-conditioned rooms, and 1 with non-conditioned rooms and food.) Ha, bien complicado. Pero entonces...

Two more things:
1. What are all your phone numbers? Mine is 8336-8610.
2. Are we still on for March 16th and 17th in Managua? Technically I have class until 4:45 on the 16th, but if we want to meet early I'll just talk to my counterpart and it should be no problem missing class. After looking at the manual, I realized that a lot of work is required to put on the camp so I'm thinking maybe we should plan on two full days in the office?
