In the social sciences, triangulation refers to the application and combination of several research methods in the study of the same phenomenon.[1] By combining multiple observers, theories, methods, and empirical materials, researchers hope to overcome the weakness or intrinsic biases and the problems that come from single method, single-observer, and single-theory studies.

It is popularly used in sociology. "The concept of triangulation is borrowed from navigational and land surveying techniques that determine a single point in space with the convergence of measurements taken from two other distinct points."[2]

An evaluation matrix, as shown below, will help you check that the planned data collection will cover all the KEQs, see if there is sufficient triangulation between different data sources, and help you design questionnaires, interview schedules, data extraction tools for project records, and observation tools, to ensure they gather the necessary data.

Building on previous applications of triangulation in anthropology86, we applied the method to the dispersal of the Transeurasian languages, integrating linguistics, archaeology and genetics to contribute a better understanding of the phenomenon. We collected different datasets and applied the methods described above to draw independent inferences with regard to a number of variables such as location, chronology, migratory dynamics, continuity versus diffusion, and subsistence (Supplementary Data 26). Each discipline inferred the most parsimonious model involving these variables on the basis of the application of tools internal to its own field, whether qualitative or quantitative, based on direct or indirect evidence. Taken by itself, a single discipline alone cannot conclusively resolve the question about farming/language dispersals, but taken together the three disciplines increase the credibility and validity of this scenario. Aligning the evidence offered by the three disciplines, we gained a more balanced and richer understanding of Transeurasian migration than each of the three disciplines could provide us with individually.

TIN interpolation is another popular tool in GIS. A common TIN algorithm is calledDelaunay triangulation. It tries to create a surface formed by triangles ofnearest neighbour points. To do this, circumcircles around selected sample pointsare created and their intersections are connected to a network of non overlappingand as compact as possible triangles (see Fig. 11.40).

The main disadvantage of the TIN interpolation is that the surfaces are not smoothand may give a jagged appearance. This is caused by discontinuous slopes at thetriangle edges and sample data points. In addition, triangulation is generallynot suitable for extrapolation beyond the area with collected sample data points(see Fig. 11.41 ).

What hell do I mean for a non-premptive decomposition?Take this tetrahedralization Without being too preemptive you might consider this natural decomposition Next you cannot decide how to go on (seriously?). The orange edge is a non-manifold edge. If you look at this complex as a triangulation then you can see that there is a unique natural option, i.e. to inflate it.

Methodological pluralism refers to researchers using a range of methods in the same piece of research. This allows for triangulation where qualitative and quantitative data can be produced in order to maximise validity and reliability. This is often done in case studies. Examples include Paul Willis' "Learning to Labour" where a range of methods were used, such as participant observation and group interviews.

A Voronoi diagram or Voronoi tessellation of a set of points s inan N-dimensional space, is the tessellation of the N-dimensional spacesuch that all points in v(p), a partitions of thetessellation where p is a member of s, are closer to pthan any other point in s. The Voronoi diagram is related to theDelaunay triangulation of a set of points, in that the vertexes of theVoronoi tessellation are the centers of the circum-circles of thesimplices of the Delaunay tessellation.

Technically, the param_pctconvex determines a length as a fraction of the difference between the longest and shortest edges in the Delaunay Triangulation of the input points. Edges longer than this length are "eroded" from the triangulation. The triangles remaining form the concave hull.

I don't have one unifying theory for all of these pieces, but I feel that these ideas may, at least, be influences in the greater story arc of The OA. I definitely feel that Khatun, Saturn, and their triangulation with OA have much more to contribute to later parts of this story.

Good supply chain planners are very aware of these biases and use techniques such as triangulation to prevent them. Eliminating bias can be a good and simple step in the long journey to an excellent supply chain.

Often, the data for Isarithmic mapping is gathered from distributed sample points, leaving an absence of information between these locations. This is where interpolation is useful, because it allows for intermediate points to be assigned a value derived from the triangulation of existing control points. [7] Interpolation can only be used when dealing with isometric lines. An even gradient is assumed between lines, so the value halfway between two lines is equal to halfway between the two data values. The rate of change can be easily assessed on both isometric and isoplethic maps. Lines that are closely spaced have a severe gradient while lines that are far apart have a more gradual gradient. [8]

HASTY, a 2-in-1 victim detection and location device: seismic sensors detect signs of life generating vibrations, and search camera precisely locates the victim under the rubble. Seismic sensors also allow the location of a victim through different methods such as triangulation.
