Feak used a Battle.net chat channel as a place for DotA players to congregate, but DotA Allstars had no official site for discussions and hosting. Subsequently, the leaders of the DotA Allstars clan, TDA, proposed that a dedicated web site be created to replace the various online alternatives that were infrequently updated or improperly maintained. TDA member Steve "Pendragon" Mescon created an official community site, dota-allstars.com.[13]

IceFrog would quickly update the map in response to feedback.[18] Mescon maintained dota-allstars.com, which by May 2009 had over 1,500,000 registered users and received over one million unique visitors every month.[19] Mescon's sale of the domain to Riot Games split the DotA community,[4] and IceFrog announced a new official site, playdota.com, while continuing game development.[20]
Hello guys! Just like many other gamers, I am a fan of the lore of warcraft. I might be wrong , but i think dota was originally inspired by warcraft 3? I am extremely interested in dota heroes and trying to figure out their equivalents in the warcraft lore. Can you guys please correct/ add to my list? Thanks.
The teams consist of up to five players, each controlling a single hero, and a computer which controls creeps. Standard variants do not support the artificial intelligence (AI) for computer controlled heroes. A variant known as DotA Mercenaries has allowed more computer controlled players, and is commonly used for training purposes or when other human players are not available to play with. Most of resources I found recommended I buy Warcraft 3 for Mac version (yes, there is warcraft 3 for mac). However, I already own the PC version, and I don't want to waste another $60++ bucks to buy a Mac version (it's an old game as you guys already know).
!! I still always wondering if the corpse is gonna block the spawn but notice it usually doesn't but I still try every time to prevent it guess I was chasing ghost when did corpse stop spawning was that just a dota 1 thing ? I quit dota for about 6 years then came back to dota 2 so don't know when that got phased out .
I will add some bugfixes in the next few days/next week and release 1.5 with that, but that's it for the most part. The main work is done. The original dota that that sparked the genre is now ported to Dota 2!
One of the main reasons I started with the map was because I was really fed up with modern dota clones at some point and wanted to recreate the feeling the originals gave (Dota Classic, Tides of Blood). Those were far more team based: The gold pooling, the enforced team work through the healer/summoner classes, no mega-heroes due less powerful items etc.
