Dear Democracy fans,

I talked to Mike last Tuesday and he was going in for bladder surgery Thursday. He turned 88 on May 13.

I was appointed to Boulder's Campaign Finance and Elections working group and convinced them to unanimously endorse online petitioning for City ballot initiatives, among other improvements we came up with.

I'm working with new Council member Jill Grano, who is very well connected for age 36. But there is reluctance as this is new and Council is very busy this year, and badly underpaid.

So I've started an informal petition and anyone can sign -or email cou...@bouldercolorado.gov. Mike is sending copies of his book Citizen Power for them.

The petition likely has all the political and technical background you'd want:

Please consider signing and spreading it around. 37 states and DC have online voter registration which can be easily adapted for petitioning, so this could spread fast and bring direct democracy into the 21st century, finally.

Thanks,
Evan
