Thought I would send this video out discussing how to beat the oligarchy system.  Took some work.  https://youtu.be/D_DPNoNlaMs

Around 3min into the video you talk about super majority to make laws.  Mike Gravel never included a super majority to make laws, he always said (and he said it to me!) that if you have a super majority to enact a law, that means you have a super minority to not enact it and that’s not fair.  Majority rules is what he had always said to me.

With respect to changing the constitution through an amendment, he has 2 votes, one after another to make sure we got it right.

The video needs to say who "we" is.

I don't know if this is a computer voice or just a person who doesn't know how to pronounce Mike Gravel's name. It's not like a bunch of little rocks, it's pronounced Gra-VEL because it's French.

The founding fathers rejected super majorities because it means the minority rules. That's precisely how Mitch McConnell stopped all Federal progress for the last 10 years, because a super majority of 60 of 100 senators are required to overcome a filibuster. Biden intends to end it.

Gravel's plan does require TWO votes to amend the Constitution, to make sure people really want to, without putting the minority in charge.

I support an article 5 convention. And National initiatives should be the most important goal, because they put people in charge without waiting another 240 years for a convention. In other words, they can do what a convention does, one Amendment at a time, as well as pass laws that are not amendments.

It’s a recommendation.  Other experts have argued that not having it would increase regional conflict.  Mike has always said he wanted debate on his idea.

In my opinion, the key to good policy is educated citizens. That's why I
think sections 3.7-3.9 of the Citizens Legislative Procedures Act are
extremely important.

In fact, I think we should go further and institute investigative
journalism vouchers, similar to Seattle's democracy vouchers,
https://www.seattle.gov/democracyvoucher/about-the-program That is, all
citizens should be allocated money to donate to their investigative
journalist of choice. This is an idea supported by Larry Lessig.

I don’t want the credit from other’s in different groups/platforms and ideas from our discussions/debates so I don’t think it’s necessary for the added details so just saying we as a whole for solutions for the world works for me.

The voice is A.I and I would have to try to make it pronounce Mike’s last name better later sometime.

Also the super majority can be debated, it’s only used badly in congress not for direct democracy because positive policy is overwhelming popular with a super majority of the country already in the statistics.  Plus debating with right wing geopolitical analysts, their concerns using just a simple majority is worrisome because they don’t want places like California and New York to make all the decisions for the rest of the country because of population.  They’re already are kinda against true democracy and we need both sides to team up.  Another point is the topic of oligarchy, it’s easier for oligarchs to seize control over a movement with a simple majority and a lot harder to control one with a super majority.

I think it's a mistake to use an artificial voice. It sounds like what it is, mechanical without inflection or emotion. You can find someone with a good authoritative voice

That my friend would cost a lot more money 😅. But I agree with you.

I totally agree.  The robot voice to me is way off putting, it makes me think it’s not a real person behind this; that it’s some foreign state.  You could ask anyone on this list.  Dan Connor graciously recorded the voiceover for the video we did ages ago that Skyler McKinley cobbled together.  Whoever does the voiceover should have an American accent (there are many!)  You might even get 2 people, a male and female voice to do alternating parts, that can work very well.

In my opinion you should take out the super-minority/super-majority part or at least mention Gravel’s objection to it.  That’s a pretty major change to that section.

It’s not exclusively for promotional purposes for the idea of direct democracy.  Many educational videos on low budgets do use robot voices. Also it’s a global initiative to promote direct democracy which American accents aren’t common in worldwide promotions.  I agree with maybe having alternative voices in one segment though.  The video is to show a collaboration of movements to deflect the most destructive force against democracy which is oligarchy.
