I have a couple of questions regarding regional talk groups. I see on the NI4CE website where it specifies which repeaters host specific  local talk groups (1230, 1231, 1232, 1233), however, the regional talk groups (1201, 1202, 1203) are a little less clear as I've been unable to find anything regarding where the west central section terminates, the north and south sections begin, and if there is any overlap between the three.

I currently have my radio programmed as follows;

1202: Sumter, Pasco
1201: Pasco, Pinellas, Hillsborough, Polk, Highlands, Brevard, Manatee
1203: Sarasota, DeSoto, Charlotte North, Charlotte Central, Charlotte South,  Lee

If any of this is incorrect or anything is missing some help in getting me straightened out would be much appreciated.

Also, is 1233 still de networked?

So does the nice system link to these other nets or do I use my hotspot or either?

Ni4ce is a non Hotspot system.
The world wide nx core is separated from ni4ce, and supports hotspots.

The NI4CE NXDN Network has several, Wide Area Talkgroups (WATG).  That means they encompass and include all repeaters.  They include:

TG 1200          System-wide General Calling

TG 1250          System-wide Data Messaging

TG 1299          SKYWARN WX-Alert (Ruskin CWA System-wide)

Regional Talkgroups include the following

1201    West Central Florida Section

1202    North Florida Section

1203    South Florida Section

1215    CCFLARES    (Charlotte North, Charlotte South, Charlotte East, Laurel, Verna)

1220    Sarasota (includes Verna, Laurel)

1231    Sarastoa Agri-Resources Group )SARG)

(Currently includes Verna, Laurel, DeSoto, Charlotte North, Charlotte South,

Charlotte East)

1298    SKYWARN –Melbourne CWA

1299    SKYWARN – Jacksonville CWA

12071  Lee-Linc  (includes Charlotte South, Charlotte East, Sanibel Isl)

TG – 1 is LOCAL on ALL Repeaters

Talkgroups 1230, 1232, 1233, 1234 are TACTICAL Talkgroups, configured and activated on demand in response to disasters or any time a tactical sub-group of repeaters is required in response to an emergency.

NI4CE is a Radio over IP System and does not support Hotspot devices.

As we head into Hurricane Season, TG 1299 (SKYWARN-Ruskin CWA)  will be connected to the NI4CE Analog system (on demand) to support severe weather operations, as needed.  We are doing this to encompass more Ruskin CWA counties, some which do not have access to Ni4CE Analog repeaters.

NXDN offers one voice path at a time per repeater.  Users of the Regional Talkgroups are reminded that when a Regional Talkgroup is in use, the repeaters associated with that Talkgroup are not available for other traffic (voice or data).

I probably shouldn't admit this out loud but it never occurred to me that this all correlated to ARRL sections. I was thinking in terms of how various government entities might have the state carved up. I appreciate the help!

Paul I really appreciate you taking the time to further go into detail on the talk groups. Reading through your response I'm seeing talk groups listed that I didn't know existed (not on the NI4CE web page) and then I'm also seeing where you're describing some differently than I had read on the website. For example, on the website it shows that 1232 links Pinellas and Pasco and 1233 links Pinellas and Hillsborough, there is no 1234 mentioned that I can see and 1231 had a different grouping.

When you say tactical talk groups configured and activated on demand, am I correct in my interpretation that you mean 1230, 1232, 1233 and 1234 have no regular assigned grouping and that they will be configured by a system admin when it's deemed necessary?

I live in Pinellas county and my father lives in Hillsborough, we spent a good deal of time communicating via 1233 last year and I was unaware until recently that it had been de networked. Our logic was always to use 1233 as a first line of communication in order to avoid tying up the entire, or even a large portion of the network.
