Convicted paedophile Lindsay Brown is living with his brother Rev Dr
Godfrey Brown at his Manse in Ballycastle/ Dr Brown recently banned
the local RBP from holding a service in his Church, because it would
be likely to offend people in the area!

Protestant Clergy Who Deny Their Roots
by The Orange Standard
Protestant Clergy Who Deny Their Roots
Some years ago the writer was astonished one Sunday morning to hear
the earnest young minister launch a fairly vigorous attack on the
Orange Order, in the course of which he pointed to Orangemen as an
example of people who do not practice what they preach.
The minister - I will save him embarrassment by not publishing his
name - had only been in charge of the church for about three months,
but had already got to know many of the prominent members. Imagine his
shock when an impromptu deputation of these eminently respectable
church members went to see him after the service and revealed
themselves to be Orangemen - proud of it.
The minister's face was a study of emotions as his face flushed and
then went white with shock. He spluttered and sought for words to
explain his denunciation of Orangemen from the pulpit. The members of
the eight or nine strong delegation were generous and fair and they
did not inflict anger or ridicule on him. Instead, they sought by
rational and constructive argument to point out that sweeping
condemnation of Orangemen is both foolish and unfair.
The minister took the point, thanked the brethren for their
constructive comments, and afterwards admitted to the writer that on
reflection he had been hasty and far to sweeping in his remarks.
The Orangemen who went to see him after that service did not deny that
there are Orangemen who fall far below the standards placed on them by
the Order. They do not live up to the qualifications of an Orangeman,
and sadly their behaviour had influenced that young minister into
falling into the mistake of branding all Orangemen as the same.
There were lessons in that incident for both sides, and happily both
were learned, the minister going on to enjoy a very fruitful ministry
in charge of the congregation and before he left for another church,
had made friends with all the Orangemen who went to see him that day.
The incident came flooding back to the writer on reading a recent
story in the News Letter which described the sad decision by two
Protestant clergymen in Ballycastle, County Antrim, to refuse the use
of their churches for a service.
Presbyterian minister the Rev. Dr. Victor Ryan, who is County Grand
Master of the Royal Black Institution in Belfast, said he was "vexed"
at the snub by former Moderator of the Presbyterian Church, the Rev.
Dr. Godfrey Brown and the Church of Ireland rector, the Rev. David
Palmer.
Dr. Brown was reported as saying he did not want to be associated with
a parade, while Mr. Palmer said he was uncomfortable with his church
being used for a special service by any outside group whose
aspirations are "both political and religious."
Dr. Ryan, in the course of a forceful and constructive case, pointed
out that the Royal Black Institution is non-political and a Christian
organisation.
"This decision does not recognise the cultural and Christian
traditions of the Royal Black Institution. When ministers of religion
seek to debar from the house of God members of a Christian
organisation that has striven valiantly down the years to this present
day to uphold and protect the Protestant Reformed evangelical faith,
it is disappointing. No wonder that Protestant congregations are now
in decline"!
Dr. Dyan rightly pointed out to both ministers that members of the
Royal Black Institution are loyal committed elders, members of select
vestries, deacons, committee men, Sunday school teachers and youth
leaders throughout the Protestant congregations.
Excellent response! One can only recall too that when a similar
decision was made in Lurgan some years ago by a Methodist minister to
withhold the use of the church in which he was then minister, the
Orange brethren of that town made a dignified reply and then allowed
the matter to drop.
That should be the response every time such a thing occurs - a
constructive and dignified reply like that of Dr. Ryan. But it has
also to be said that one wonders about the thinking behind Protestant
ministers and clergymen who make these sort of decisions. It is a
classic example of shooting oneself's in the foot! And for what useful
purpose, one might add?

NO Clergymen of any sense and moral code should allow themselves to be members of
the Orange Order, it is an absolute disgrace to all the Protestant Churches that
there still are Clergy within the Orange Order.
The only other "Institution" which compares at all with the Orange Order for sheer
wickedness and intolerant arrogance and sectarianism is the Republican Movement. To
support Orangery in today's context is to actively support Republicanism and their
aims of a United Ireland.
It is high time that we all realised this and supported normal democratic politics
to the full in order to achieve what "WE" want as individuals, and not be bounced
into a second rate option by terror tactics.
I am absolutely appalled and shocked by Doreen and what she stands for.
Harry Merrick.
Oh spare me the liberal handwringing!!
It is perfectly legitimate to question the decisions of the clergy,
especially His Godly Magnificence Godfrey Brown.
He negotiates with the IRA, he houses his paedophile brother Lindsay
Brown who raped a generation of young boys and then he still acts as
if we should kiss his ring!
Smell the coffee and spare me the sanctimonious stuff!
Doreen
Jesus associated with scum too as the bible tells us. He was all for
forgiveness. Hate the sin and not the sinner etc.
Unfortunately that is the Christian way. Godfrey Brown being a
clergyman, probably follows that way, as most of this country claims to
also.
We just have to live with it,
Sean

I Like yer style, girl. But hey, Harry is totally right to condemn what you're
doing here. It's the sort of moronic attitude one expects from 9 year old
urchins on an inner city council estate - medieval mob rule - nasty, brutish,
cowardly and utterly unintelligent. Grow up and move on, lass. This Brown paedo
fella is already being amply punished with a lifetime of inner torment. Believe
it....
You are an appalling example of degenerate society, and none of your stupid excuses can make the situation
logical, OR right.
Your reasons for the attack are with NO proof and NO sense at all. I consider you a demented person who really
should not be allowed near a computer, to poison a perfectly respectable News Group with such evil rant. Go away,
grow up!
Harry Merrick.

Well not if you are too stupid to understand them

Dear Harry, it strikes me if there is a rant it is coming from you.
I note how quick you are to dish out the pious mouthings and even
quicker to be irritated by a response.
I have every right to express my opinions about Protestantism and the
need for Free Speech and Civil Rights and as a mother I dont see any
reason why I should be allowed to be vigilant against convicted
paedophiles the sake of my own and every other child.
So quite frankly, since I know it will annoy you, might I suggest you
take another valium, take a deep breath and shut the fEck up
Doreen
Yeah, Jesus was a nice wee Jew who hung out with prostitutes
and the inland revenue.
But he died about 2000 years ago ewe know.

Actually, I never said that it was not. I said that i agreed with their
decision to have nothing to do with the Orange Order. Sadly, it seems
that he was bullied into submission!

If so, Dear Heart, I would far rather be labeled pompous rather than
degenerate, which is what you are. Or dreadfully
sick, which you possibly are as well, in which case I am very sorry for
you.

I don't think that that comes into the question at all actually.
Stupidity is amply demonstrated by your sad and sickly
venomous website, which it appears you are trying to promote using *my*
e-mail address!! Sad person! I think that you
are in great danger of becoming criminal as well. Using other peoples'
e-mail address is fraud I am sure. Not to
mention the public harassment of these two persons.
I would ask other readers of this NG to go to the following URL, and let
us see what you think?

I look forward to the consensus of opinion with interest!

I am not ranting as any sane person can see. Merely stating fact.

Moi? Irritated? What nonsense. It is very plain that the only irritated
and pious person here is your sadly venomous
self.

I agree. And I have every right to disagree with everything you write,
and say so. And I also agree, you can be
vigilant against whoever you like.
However, being vigilant is very different from mounting a Witch Hunt,
and harassment and intimidation, not to mention
promoting vigilante style violence against others. This is exactly what
you and your despicable website are doing. I
would suggest that you look out for the knock on the door from your
local friendly Policemen, armed with arrest
warrants for illegal persecution, and promoting public disorder!

There you go, Doreen, you have publicly exposed yourself for the
thoroughly nasty, aggressive, vicious and bullying
person that you actually are! :-))
Go take your own advice, take a bottle of valium, and shut the feck up.
Don't even waste time with a deep breath!
Harry Merrick.

When I visited these sad little sites, the main word that sprang to my mind was
- *obsession*. The woman clearly has an unhealthy obsession with this paedo.
Why go to such trouble to immortalize him otherwise? And why him? Why not some
serial rapist, paedos in general, murderer, IRA terrorist....? Unless, of
course, he's some old flame of hers - woman scorned and all....?
