I don't like this either, but I copied, too. I hope the future will be save. If not I'll be able to get it running as a forked OSS project on my servers. I'm hoping that the discussions on Lucence.NET forum will be over asap.

NGit has gone the continuous migration path and uses Sharpen to transform
Java to C#:

Something like that looks much more promising to create a sustainable
project that can keep up with the original. But then I haven't used sharpen
or lucene, so caveat emptor.

I know sharpen and I'm testing it with lucence. I hope it'll be possible to create a continues migration. I hope I can say something asap.

Not only! First of all there have to be a base to get it done. The current Lucence.NET code base is IMHO to old and I would like to start with the current version 3.x. After a completed migration, it's possible to get optimization and implementation.--
