Possibly the later Rob.  I have just sent an email from gmail to nhs.net without difficulty and I’m sure if this were a general problem gmail > nhs.net we would have heard more cries of anguish.

I couldn't see a reply button on the discussion group but the workaround is to go through an intermediatory. Copy in a doctors.net email address and set up a rule on that account to do an automatic reply-all.

No need to feel stupid.... I experienced the same issue just a couple of
weeks ago when my corporate ISP's (GoDaddy... one of the largest ISPs in
North America) email server was blocked from sending messages to nhs.net
addresses. Funny thing was that it only blocked sending to some
addresses and when I had multiple nhs.net email addresses in my
distribution list mail went through. This was extremely annoying to say
the least as the timing of this could not have been worse. Thankfully I
had a couple of other options for my SMTP server.
