Hey, all.  So, I dipped my toes into Ruby a couple months ago, and was -- *gasp* -- shocked at how much I enjoyed it.  Well, now I'm getting hit by my employer for a list of courses I might be interested in taking this year, and getting a more formalized look at Ruby than "google everything" might not be a bad idea.  Any local (NH by preference, but probably MA) courses that might be recommended?

Thanks!

-Ken

I can definitely recommend my friend Dan Pickett and his program, LaunchAcademy (http://www.launchacademy.com/). Have also heard pretty good things about the shorter-form classes offered by GeneralAssembly in Cambridge (https://generalassemb.ly/). Neither are located in NH of course, but so it goes :).

Also, though the NH.rb group is no longer meeting on a regular basis, please feel free to drop by the Web Dev Group that I co-organize alongside Josh Cyr. We meet at Alpha Loft in Portsmouth every third Wednesday of the month (next one is this Wednesday). More information here:

Good luck, and welcome to the Ruby community!

Ken:

Welcome to Ruby. Pretty cool stuff.

Along with Nick's good suggestions, you might consider attending local conferences. You get to see world-class speakers, mingle with locals, and drink from the firehose. I have always found conferences far more valuable than the cost.

Wicked Good Ruby is Saturday and Sunday, October 12 and 13, and has a promotional discount good until the end of the month:  http://wickedgoodruby.com/

In Burlington, VT this August 3 and 4: http://burlingtonruby.com/
