POSITION:  Director of Latin American and Caribbean Programs, W. K. Kellogg Foundation

WORK LOCATION: Mexico City, Mexico

REPORTING TO:  Vice President - Program Strategy

LEAD FOR THE SEARCH:  Jim McHale

PURPOSE:  
This position is the foundation’s representative and managing director
for the program in Latin America and Caribbean (LAC). This position,
based in Mexico City, Mexico, provides leadership for WKKF programs and
investments in LAC.  The director reports to a Battle Creek based vice
president – program strategy and works with that officer and staff and
people in the region to develop strategic direction for programs to
achieve sustainable social and economic success for vulnerable children,
families and communities.

The work is supported by a rolling
5-year program plan and associated budgets.  In addition to overall
program planning and management responsibilities, the director
supervises and coordinates the work of staff assigned to the region. The
director is also responsible for systems and services that support the
staff in the region, linking to the headquarters in Battle Creek,
Michigan, as necessary.  The director is responsible for the consistent
and fair application of WKKF policies, philosophies, and
organization-wide systems to accomplish the mission of the foundation.

SALARY
INFORMATION:  Actual starting salary of candidate will be commensurate
with years, breadth, and depth of relevant experience (internal and
external to WKKF), education, certifications, credentials, special
skills, accomplishments and other factors relevant to the position.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

·        
Advanced degree in field(s) relevant to social and economic development
to benefit vulnerable children, families and communities in Latin
America required.

·         Minimum of 10 years practical work
experience relevant to assigned responsibilities. Particular interest in
a mixture of public, private and non-profit exposures, from local to
public policy environments.

·         Management and
administrative experience required including the running of an office or
organization, hiring and supervision of staff, fiscal management, and
managing board relations.

·         Philanthropic and NGO experience required.

·        
Experience working with communities and organizations, and designing
and implementing effective approaches, to achieve sustainable change.

·         Fluency in English and Spanish required. A working knowledge of Portuguese and/or Creole is helpful.

·         Knowledge of international cultures and systems required, particularly with in the United States and LAC countries.

·        
Successful experience leading multidisciplinary teams and working
effectively (nationally and internationally) with persons and
communities from diverse cultural, social, and ethnic backgrounds.

·         Demonstrated high level of ethics and commitment to organizational mission, values, and goals.
