Committed to Excellence
It takes Remarkable and Passionate Individuals to make PIQE a Success! It was no accident that brought Maria Elena Meraz to PIQE. Back in 1996, Maria Elena, like many parents, wanted her children to succeed in school. Unfortunately, she didn't know how to help her son. During this time, she heard about PIQE through a facilitator, found it at a local school, and participated as a parent. It was Maria Elena's participation in PIQE's signature program that lead her to the realization of the CRITICAL IMPORTANCE of PARENT ENGAGEMENT. She put into practice everything she learned in PIQE. She became a life-long advocate for the academic success for her son, and now of her daughter. It is through PIQE "empowering and helping me get involved in my son's school" that inspires Maria Elena to continue this critical work. Despite the odds, her son Victor, recently graduated from Whittier College. Through Maria Elena's first hand experience she can 100% attest to PIQE's impact and has worked tirelessly for the past 17 years to continue PIQE's mission. |
