A Brighter Future for Latinas
Written By: Lidia Soto-Harmon (ELP, 2000), Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Girl Scout Council of the Nation’s Capital.
When I came to Girl Scouts I started a conference to help inspire young Latinas in our community to learn about leadership and recruited many of my NHLI sisters to be presenters at the conference. I am happy to say that Encuentro de Chicas Latinas de las Girl Scouts is going to celebrate its seventh year on August 14-16, 2012, when we take over 150 Latinas to learn about leadership and a brighter future at a Girl Scout Camp. By combining fun and friendship with the ideals of leadership and service we help build girls of courage, confidence and character, who make the world a better place.
