45 Years of Bird
Population Trends Thursday, May 16, 7:30 p.m at
Woodend
Every
June since 1966, experienced birders have documented the
populations of roadside birds throughout the U.S. and southern
Canada. Now ornithologists at the Patuxent Wildlife Research
Center have compiled from this Breeding Bird Survey data, an
interactive database showing abundance and trends of 400
species.
Dr. John Sauer, lead researcher
on the project first begun by Chandler Robbins, will tell us
about the significant trends and explain how to use the
database.
Doors open at 7 for refreshments and
browsing in the Sanctuary Shop. (Members will receive
a special 20% discount.) The program begins at 7:30. No
charge.
