Hello:

With the recent resignations of Matt and Richard, I was curious to see if we have enough people to be official given the delays from the city in appointing more members.  In the process, I see the name of Pia Pyles.  I do not recall seeing this name before and wonder if anyone knows who this person is?

Christine: Are you official yet?

My name is missing from the list and Joseph is not a participating member which means 4 or 5 appointed and participating members. Are the rest of you interested in continuing to serve on the FRAC? Do you have any recommendations on how to get the Mayor to appoint more commissioners?  I think it will be hard to move forward with only 5 people when 5 is needed to get get a majority of 9 people.  If Pia Pyles is a new member, then we have six which is still hard given people's schedules etc...

What are your thoughts?

Jeffrey,

You have helped us create some great momentum and I would like to continue but would like it to be an official board so that our input will impact change.

Carmen

I completely agree.  I think it is important for the City to appoint the full contingent.  They have certainly had enough time, and many names to consider.  It comes down to whether they want to focus time/energy to get the remaining people appointed.  Perhaps we can write a letter to the Mayor as they remaining commissioners about the importance of these appointments?

Thanks,

I am definitely interested in participating but am very concerned that we will have enough people to effectively do our job.  So, I spoke to Sean today Matteson today who said that my appointment should be completed any day now and that Pia is a new appointee going through the approval process.  He also said that he was talking to other potential candidates but was vague and didn't give me a warm feeling that we would have additional members anytime soon.  Sean said he would provide periodic updates to us on the recruitment process going forward.  If the 5 year plan is important to the city, they should increase their efforts by publishing a request for individuals or other aggressive tactics to get new members.  If the group wants to write a letter, that's fine, I think we just need to do it outside of the meeting time so that we can focus our next meeting solely on the RFP responses.
Regards,
Christine
