Stopped by Goss Farm in Rye late this morning to look for the continuing rare birds and ended up with some great butterflies instead. Lots of Monarchs and Sulphurs mainly, but highlights were a very bright Common Buckeye and a super cooperative Pipevine Swallowtail!!
The Swallowtail spent at least an hour flying between patches of zinnia and tithonia in the community garden areas, and was still around when I left. It would occasionally disappear for a few minutes, but always showed back up after a bit. A lifer for me, and very exciting to get one before the rainy and cold weather sets in tomorrow and Thursday!
