Jane and I led our annual Field Trip for the BBC along the NH coast on
Sunday. We had about 15 intrepid birders join us in search of
rarities. Unfortunately, some of the lingering birds from recent days
seemed to have cleared out over night (including the Cattle Egret). And
we were a day too early for the the mega-rare Bell's Vireo found the
next day by Brett Hillman. But we still had lots of good birds and
great weather and a fun time
We birded from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM visiting Hampton Beach State Park,
Bicentennial Park in Hampton, Eel Pond in Rye, Goss Farm in Rye, Ragged
Neck in Rye, and Odiorne Point State Park in Rye. We ended up with
about 68 species of birds, but also had 3 species of butterfies (Cabbage
White, MONARCH, and American Lady) and 1 species of dragonfly (Autumn
