The snow day yesterday gave me a chance to watch the feeders at home (in Sandwich). They were hopping with a nice mix of species.
In amongst the 24 American Goldfinches and 7 Pine Siskins was this very cool bird. It showed traits of both species. Note the overall goldfinch shape and wing pattern, but the siskin bill and streaking. I managed to get a nice shot that shows the underwing pattern (like goldfinch). I had a similar bird a couple years ago in Ashland. Ebird has a gallery of images of a couple other examples of presumed Goldfinch/Siskin hybrids.
