Rare Bird Alert, New Hampshire, July 15, 2024

This is New Hampshire Audubon's Rare Bird Alert for Monday, July 15, 2024. 

 

A BRIDLED TERN, first reported on July 9^th, has been seen and photographed on or near White Island and Seavey Island at the Isles of Shoals on several days during the past week. Public access to White Island and Seavey Island is not permitted so the only way to see the bird is from a boat.

 

There was an unconfirmed report of a BLACK TERN from coastal Hampton on June 12^th.

 

A CORY’S SHEARWATER was seen between the coast and the Isles of Shoals on July 9^th and 10^th’

 

An ATLANTIC PUFFIN was seen near the Isles of Shoals on July 9^th, and a COMMON MURRE was seen at the Isles of Shoals on several days during the past week.

 

An AMERICAN OYSTERCATCHER was seen at the Isles of Shoals in Rye on July 13^th and 14^th.

 

A LESSER YELLOWLEGS and a GREATER YELLOWLEGS were seen at Goose Pond in Canaan on July 9^th.

 

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER was seen at Tullando Farm in Orford on July 12^th.

 

A SOLITARY SANDPIPER and a SNOWY EGRET were seen at Adams Point in Durham on July 12^th.

 

A LESSER SCAUP was seen on Sunrise Lake in Middleton on July 10^th.

 

A LEAST BITTERN was seen at World End Pond in Salem on July 14^th.

 

There was an unconfirmed report of a BLACK-CROWNED NIGHT-HERON from Route 2 along the Androscoggin River in Shelburne on July 13^th.

 

An adult LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen at Awcomin Marsh in Rye on July 8^th, and an immature LITTLE BLUE HERON was seen at Pickering Ponds in Rochester on the 9^th.

 

A MERLIN was seen in New Castle on several days during the past week.

 

Several FOX SPARROWS were reported from the White Mountains and Pittsburg during the past week.

 

2 WHITE-CROWNED SPARROWS were seen in the White Mountains during the past week.

 

4 HORNED LARKS were seen at Pease International Tradeport in Newington on July 14^th.

 

An OLIVE-SIDED FLYCATCHER was reported from Dodge Pond in Lyman on July 9^th.
