We picked up 8 inches of snow Friday evening and early Saturday in Jefferson. We only had a few feeders out during the day because some black bears were still active. But with the snow I put out a few more feeders during the day. Sightings for Saturday included:
1 Evening Grosbeak, male
1 Purple Finch, male,
2 Tree Sparrows
3 Dark-eyed Juncos
16 American Goldfinch
4 Red-breasted Nuthatches
6 Black-capped Chickadees
2 Blue Jays
1 Hairy Woodpecker
A decent start to the winter bird feeding season.
