to New Hampshire Birds
I did a circuit of Lake Massabesic this morning, surveying the lake
from several of my favorite spots. There were several clusters of
ducks in various places around the lake. Some were too far away to
identify even through my scope, but I'm sure of Bufflehead, Common
Goldeneye, Common Merganser, and Ring-necked Duck. There were also
plenty of songbirds singing - Song Sparrow, Cardinal, American Robin,
Black-capped Chickadee, Red-winged Blackbird, Tufted Titmouse...
And there were a couple of Tree Swallows at Massabesic Audubon
Center, at least a couple of weeks earlier than usual.
Best bird of the morning, though, was the adult Bald Eagle that
glided overhead while I was at Claire's Landing in Auburn.
