First clay colored in 20 years in this patch. 3 of the 4 corn fields had been plowed under this summer, leaving knee-high weedy habitat. Sparrows are numerous but shy and dive for cover. Clay colored flew from weedy patch to swale, where it flitted in site for almost a minute. Should anyone wish to bird here I’d welcome a partner or several before work or lunch hour. Park at the end of Stephen Drive.
