Hi all -
The McAuliffe-Shepard Discovery Center is hosting a project regarding a “citizen science” opportunity that would continue to measure the impacts of climate change in New Hampshire. The focus of the program would be the measurement of rising temperatures and extreme heat.
The program is supported by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in collaboration with the Boston Museum of Science and is intended to focus on aspects of changing weather and create opportunities for communities to discuss how to plan for the impacts of the changes that we see in our environment due to climate change.
The McAulliffe-Shepard Discovery Center will be hosting online events to educate the public, recruit our citizen scientists, and hold conversations about resilience in coordination with local conservation groups, including the
Harris Center for Conservation Education, the League of Conservation Voters, local energy committees, among others.
The program has a goal of recruiting 20-25 citizen scientists to collect data measuring temperatures and responses to high temperatures in June and July, 2021.
There will be a kick-off event on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 PM.
