Imp Trail and Carter Ridge

I had a great hike n' bird outing today in the White Mountains. I started on the north limb of the Imp Trail and hiked up to tap Carter Ridge (via the North Carter Trail) and the descend via the south limb of Imp Trail. The hike produced a great bird list especially up toward the 4,500ft ridge via North Carter Trail. Species list is below. 8.7 miles; 3,300ft gain.

Canada Jay - two adults; very close

Black-capped Chickadee
Boreal Chickadee - several encounters;
Golden-crowned Kinglet
Red-breasted Nuthatch
Brown Creeper
Hermit Thrush
American Robin - three robins in the thick spruce-fir
Cedar Waxwing
White-winged Crossbill - beautiful singer. I didn't see it, but distinctive song repeated a few times
Pine Siskin - Flyover
Dark-eyed Junco
Blackpoll Warbler
Yellow-rumped Warbler
Black-throated Green Warbler

A Spruce Grouse would have been too much!
