The river of nighthawks continues to flood Franklin Falls. In my 20 years as semi-pro nighthawk watcher I've never seen a September like this one. We have counted more nighthawks in the last 3 days than in the 2 prior weeks in August. Needless to say, tonight's total sets a new state record for a single-day count in September. Part of the credit for this high count goes to Dan "The Nighthawk Man" who faced north while I faced south, scooping up everything that went by. The count ran into a little bit of overtime after 7:30, running until the passing of a bat.
More good weather continues tomorrow.
