It was a productive and rewarding outing to Thetford's Union Village Dam Park this past Friday, the 13th. Fourteen birders recorded 40 species.

Increasing evidence of the advance of spring migration was seen in the number of warbler (nine) species recorded, including a northern waterthrush, the season's first American redstarts (three) and an abundance of yellow warbles (nine). Also, three flycatcher species, including the season's first least, were observed. Other signs of arriving migrants included male (two) and female (one) evening grosbeaks and a male scarlet tanager.

The Mascoma Chapter's next visit to Union Village Dam is scheduled for this coming Friday, the 20th.
