Dear Band,

I am sorry to pass along sad news, particularly this time of year. Below is a message Sandy Lauder sent to the director of the Allen Community Band.

As it turns out I have stage 3 lung cancer. The doctors are optimistic, as am I, for their treatment to be successful. I start next Monday so I will be out of band for awhile. Obviously I miss playing and will miss the band. It's ok to let the members know what's going on with me.
