THANK YOU for the suggestion to increase bass by 10 and decrease treble by 10. I recorded audio of my voice for a book, and after noise reduction, amplification, etc., there was tinny residual noise. Using the +10 bass and -10 treble got rid of it! Thanks!
I have had tinny sound ever since Windows 10 forced the creators update on me. Sure there were times it happened because of the room I was in but I thought I fixed all that with my setup. Now it was back and things sound all tinny and I have a deadline.
I am just seeing your post after I created a similar post about this issue. You are right this is only an issue with my FLOODLIGHT camv3s. So, you are saying the recent update created this problem. Hopefully, the techs will solve this concern soon.
Came here to note I have the same exact issue and have for months now. I have tried 3 different SD cards, different SD card formats (FAT32 and ExFAT), factory reset the V3, I even manually downgraded to version 4.36.10.3406 from FW 4.36.10.4054. Nothing seems to resolve the issue, I also gave up just hoping one day a new firmware comes out that addresses this.
Sorry to hear it didnt work for you. I manually downgraded to firmware version 4.36.9.139 and now I have sound recoding on my SD Card. I lost some other newer features, but its worth it to have recorded audio in the meantime. I hope this issue is resolved in a newer firmware update.
@Jordan589,
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Can you confirm for me whether or not this happens for every site in Brave? That is, any site that would play sound is muted? Also, does sound play when using other browsers?
@Jordan589,
Very strange situation it sounds like. A couple more tests here to help us narrow down the cause of the issue. First, can you please try creating a new temporary browsing profile and test to see if you get the same behavior there?
I expect Intel will give me the run around and say contact the computer manufacturer though it really is an Intel issue with how Intel has developed the Smart Sound Technology software. The computer manufacturer has to live with Intel design choices.
I am with a company that has developed sensor products that use the USB Class 1 audio protocol. The products return vibration data instead of audio data but show up a USB microphones as far as Windows is concerned. I have to try to provide support to customers of our products to try to get them to work. So this issue will occur across all computer manufacturers.
Unfortunately, some computers have added Smart Sound Technology for USB Audio that inserts itself in front of the standard microsoft audio drivers that work well with our device. The first symptom is apparently disabling support for 24 bit audio. Second symptom is not working with the Windows kernel streaming audio interface causing application to fail.
The Intel SST driver is wrapped by the audio codec driver and then provided to the OEM, therefore, there is no support from Intel Customer Support. To find out if Intel SST can be disabled in your USB device, our best recommendation is to contact the OEM for further assistance.
Unfortunately, it is not possible to disable Smart Sound Technology for a specific USB audio device. Smart Sound Technology is a system-level feature that is designed to improve the audio quality of devices that support it. Disabling it would affect all devices that use it, not just your USB audio device.
However, you may be able to work around the issue by using a different audio interface for your sensor products. You could try using an external audio interface that does not rely on Smart Sound Technology, or a different USB port on your computer that does not have Smart Sound Technology enabled.

This issue has risen it head again!!! I have three Roku devices and one Roku TV. A couple of weeks ago, one of my Roku devices could not read a Tablo audio playback if the surround sound is turned on. I have temporarily turned off surround sound and the audio files are now working on Roku. I had opened a case with Roku (don't have the support ticket as they haven't sent an email with the number). Her solution was that it was my tv's issue. I took the working Roku stick from one tv to the tv that had the Roku issue. Issue was resolved. So it is the Roku streaming stick. The two devices that can't read the surround sound audio are older devices. I have had this setup between Roku and Tablo for over 7 years. It was just in the last couple of weeks that things quit working. I have tried the suggestions in this string, but none of them helped. Anyone else having this issue?
It is highly appreciated that you've brought this to our attention and we sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused you. No worries! We're here to find you the best resolution so you can get back on streaming the Tablo TV channel.
On this tv, I went back to the tv speakers. I took the surround system out of the equation. I have tried updating the software and it is at version 12.5.5 build 4174-50. Tablo is the only issue on all the devices. I can go to Philo and Netflix with no issue. I have turned off the surround sound option in Tablo and the new shows play with no issues.
On this tv, I also went to the tv speakers taking the surround system out of the equation. The issue is still there. I have also tried to update the software on the roku with it stating it was already up to date. This unit is at version 12.5.5 build 4174-46.
I have another Steaming Stick 4K model 3820x serial S08Y4248V9JC. It also was able to play the Tablo show with no problem. Now I'm having issues with that stick in that the remote is frequently not working with the stick. Put new batteries in the remote with no change in behavior.
In this case, we will coordinate this with the appropriate Roku team to further investigate and find you the best resolution possible. Since you've already provided us with the model and serial number of the affected devices, kindly provide us with a Tracker ID (when you see this issue occur, press the Home button 5 times, followed by the Back button 5 times, and provide us with this ID) as this will serve as your report tracker.
Also, just to clarify, is the surround system you are referring to an external device (A/V receiver)? If so, could you please let us know the model of it? However, if this is an audio feature inside the Tablo channel, please let us know as well.
The remote I'm having trouble with is from the Roku Streaming Stick 4K. I did set it up on another Roku device and was having the same issues there. I believe we bought this Roku Streaming stick from Walmart.
Note that there is a setting within Tablo that allows the show to record with surround sound. After having this work flawlessly for years, the shows just on stereo are really bland. Tablo is the only channel that is having the issue. Surround works great with Philo and Netflix.
How it occurs:
System boots, sound icon is not visible during login screen.
After login the system may or may not display the sound selection icon and volume slider, but when going into settings only one of my outputs is on the list and it promptly disappears when clicking off the menu.
I suggest you look at the use of journalctl in the search engines I have provided and do some research on the problem. Also try using pavucontrol first, then look for pulseaudio issues. Arch wiki or fedora wiki can help with this. Do not forget to write the solutions you applied here. I hope I have helped.
I would also like to point out that the way I turn on my laptop is specific, kind of. I turn it on and close the lid, as I use it with an external monitor and peripherals. I noticed that I have a higher chance of audio working if the lid is left open during boot and before login screen.
Are there any plans down the road to be able to import multichannel audio and render out movies with embedded multichannel audio. I know Premier can do this but it's not an ideal solution for setups that make hundreds of renders and need to be turned around quickly. Doing this out of AE would cut so many steps out of the process.
I can see multi-channel audio as a feature request if After Effects was good at editing videos, but if you are only creating shots that are going to be edited into sequences to make scenes and the scenes are going to be edited into movies, I don't think the feature would be of much use to most users.
How long are the videos you are rendering in After Effects that require multi-channel audio? Almost everyone that I know in the visual effects, motion graphics, and animation industry, uses AE to create shots and edit the final movie in an NLE. I don't know anybody that usually creates a whole movie in a single AE comp or in a single 3D project. Polishing outside an NLE is just too tedious.
i use AE for motion graphics and am constantly in need of rendering with surround audio. adding a surround option in the render queue within after effects would save me a ton of time... like a TON. my delivery files need to have surround audio attached and as of now i am forced to take extra steps to attach that audio. wouldn't be a big deal if i were only using for a few elements but it's usually in the hundreds. i would love to see that take effect in a near-future version.. or even a plug-in that did that. i've been looking but with no success.
Rick, I totally agree NLE is superior in this. But our audio is produced for us and there are pretty much individual elements. Like transitions and bump ins for live sports. So the same element can be versioned out easily a hundred times which would be a tedious job even for an editor. Cut, paste, repeat, render... but if we can have the audio track inside the comp it's a 1 step final output. Our workflow here requires us to be the last step in the pipeline before it hits air through the trucks or through studio. Currently we use rush to control the render farm then ffmpeg takes the frames and attaches the audio and produces 4444 quicktimes. It's great, but if you just need one render out of it AE could knock it out in 10seconds vs the 5+ minimum it would take through the farm. With volume the farm wins hands down but when on the road with only a laptop the farm is not always an option or best choice for a fast turn around.
