Hi all,
has anyone of you ever used services provided by BGI (Chinese NGS company)? We are planning a new capture sequencing project and are thinking about where to do that. If you have any experience or have heard anything, I would be glad if you could let me know!
Thanks
Anja

Hi Anja,

We have used them for bacterial genome resequencing. I'm happy with the service and the data. The price was extremely competitive and it was possible to negotiate a substantial new customer discount. From what I hear from others, I would be reluctant to have them do any analysis - our project was raw data only. Only problem we had was from customs clearance in Hong Kong!

Cheers,
Paul

Oh, you're on the list as well - sorry for double-posting then.
Thanks a lot for the quick answer! Good to hear that you were happy with the data - I think I would do the analyses myself anyway.
Cheers, Anja

Hey Anja,

We used BGI to sequence the Timema genome. They had troubles making the large insert libraries from the DNA we were sending them, but we eventually got things to work. I'd ask Patrik if you have any more questions as he dealt with them directly.

Good luck!

Cheers,

Aaron
