Brief question about ordering from Penguin Pizza:

Y'all are the people I think of as doing this in the past. Are there any idiosyncrasies I should know about for ordering Penguin Pizza (specifically for the 5MT)? Like do they typically come late and so I need to tell them 30 minutes prior to when we really need the pizza, do they require the tip be in cash, etc. If nothing jumps out at you then just let me know!

Thanks!
Austin

Wait, so how many people are we expecting total? How many were there last year? If Jason is going to get enough for 40 people, I don't know how much pizza I should get for how many people. Recall that NGSO estimated spending $600-700 on food. I think we should do halfsies - half sandwiches and half pizza, which means $300-$350 per half of food, meaning $300-350 on sandwiches, and same for pizza (assuming we get a similar amount of food for the same price).

That might be too much though, even from Penguin pizza. $225 (not counting tax and tip, which would probably bring total to $275) divided by (~$15/pizza) = 15 pizzas, which is a lot. 8 slices per pizza = 2.67 people per pizza, so *15 = 40.05 people total.

If someone wants to correct my math, please do so (there may only be 6 slices/pizza). Should I just go for 40 people, and Jason goes for 40 people?

OK so I just called Sola and they hung up on me?  I'll try again in a bit.

I'm planning on getting sandwiches for 40 people (assuming the Pizza will cover the rest).  I'll ask if they have any glueten free options, but there's none on their online menus.

Thanks!

Hi, All,

For food & drink next week, I was hoping this could be the plan:

1) I get all alcohol/drinks.  There's a $170 budget for alcohol.  OK, done.

2) Jason, you said you'd help get food.  Sola Cafe in Cambridge is apparently pretty delicious and caters.  So, can you (or someone) arrange to get sandwiches from there?  Make sure they include plates/napkins, etc.  Please also try to get just a very few gluten-free options, if at all possible (might not be sandwiches...).  Have it arrive by 5:30p, I suppose.

3) Austin, you said you'd help, as well.  Can you (or someone) get maybe Penguin Pizza?  Or whatever type of food you would like.  I say not Mexican, since we did it last year.  If it's pizza, maybe try to have it arrive closer to 5:45p.  If it's something else, use your best judgement.

Is this doable?

Thanks!
Spencer
