MANIDHAM – Dharanee Illam

We reached Dharanee Illam by 10:00 am, We had an initial discussion with all students about their academics by asking them to bring their books to check the coverage of syllabus. Also we asked the students of standard 12 to share their midterm test marks, after looking into their scores, which was not up to the mark when we compared it to their marks which they were aiming for. Then we asked them for the areas which they find difficult to learn or understand. Then we splitted up among overselves into groups and started guiding students on their academics.
Prabhu started interacting with the students of class 12, as they had difficulty in understanding C++ concepts, he started explaing C++ concepts with handson sessions to them. Rest of us where interacting with remaining students on their academic doubt clarifications. It has been identified that most of the students struggle to read/write ENGLISH. The session continued till 1 o clock. Then students went for lunch.
Post lunch session we planned to make it more interactive, so we shared the pictures that were taken in the airforce camp ANUMANTHAPURAM by Renu Karthick. Also he explained about the arms and ammunations used during the war times. After that a video of sky diving by an army officer wad shown to the students.
As a part of events to be conducted on the eve of INDEPENDENCE DAY, students above class 8 were asked to speak about their favourite leaders. Remaining Children were asked to tell stories from the library books.
At first, children started telling stories and also the moral at the end. It was really awesome that they heard stories from their seniors and shared the same to us without any flaws.After that students of class 12 started their speech about favourite leaders. Each of them spoke well with highlighted points about the leaders. The sessions continued till 4.00 pm.
Once the event is done, to make students more interesting and interactive, Karthikeyan came up with some science experiments like see-saw effect on lighted candles and next pressure of watercan that sucks the boiled egg. Students raised some questions on how it happened and explanations has been given for the same. Session continued till 4:30 pm.
Once the experimental aession was over, after tea break ourselves along with students started playing games till 5 :00 pm. Finally prize distribution for all the students happened and students were happy on receiving the prizes. Then the day ended with the satisfaction on both the sides.
