Priscilla,
I know that we quickly nominated you for the Chair for the fundraising committeee, but I am not sure if anyone explained to you what to do. You have at least 3 people on your committee, Dee Wilson, Heather Youngblood, and Mary Ann Emert. The four of you are to have meetings outside of the Band Booster meetings to come up with fundraising ideas. Then you bring the ideas to the Band Booster and we vote on what fundraisers we want to do. We need to have numerous fundraisers throughout the year and then at least 1 HUGE fundraiser per year. We had talked at one point about having at least 1 fundraiser per month even if it was doing a chili supper or car wash. I saw on the internet that there is a company that sells cards like Ryan's does except you can pick and choose what restaurants. I also saw something about a pizza card (I believe Papa John's) that you purchase them for $5 and sell for $10 and it was buy one pizza get one free. I believe it said it was good for 1 year. You may want to check on that.
I am not on the fundraising committee but would like to share one thought. The more fundraisers we can do that we don't money our parents to death the better. For example, we did a yard sale a couple times. Yes we asked parents to donate items to the yard sale, but we didn't ask for money. This was a fundraiser that was 100% profit. I always try to tell parents if you can't afford to give money can you at least donate your time.
We have some great band booster officers that will do anything to help your kid, my kid, and their kid. I would like for all of us to work together to get our band whatever we need to bring home some more trophies this year at competitions. We may have a somewhat small band, but we have some talented students and we need to get them what they need to make them even better.
Don't mean to be preaching to the choir, but we have got to work hard this summer to get ready for Marching season.
I really appreciate your willingness to help.
Brandy
