Priscilla,

I know that we quickly nominated you for the Chair for the fundraising committeee, but I am not sure if anyone explained to you what to do.  You have at least 3 people on your committee, Dee Wilson, Heather Youngblood, and Mary Ann Emert.  The four of you are to have meetings outside of the Band Booster meetings to come up with fundraising ideas.  Then you bring the ideas to the Band Booster and we vote on what fundraisers we want to do.  We need to have numerous fundraisers throughout the year and then at least 1 HUGE fundraiser per year.  We had talked at one point about having at least 1 fundraiser per month even if it was doing a chili supper or car wash.  I saw on the internet that there is a company that sells cards like Ryan's does except you can pick and choose what restaurants.  I also saw something about a pizza card (I believe Papa John's) that you purchase them for $5 and sell for $10 and it was buy one pizza get one free.  I believe it said it was good for 1 year.  You may want to check on that.

I am not on the fundraising committee but would like to share one thought.  The more fundraisers we can do that we don't money our parents to death the better.  For example, we did a yard sale a couple times.  Yes we asked parents to donate items to the yard sale, but we didn't ask for money.  This was a fundraiser that was 100% profit.  I always try to tell parents if you can't afford to give money can you at least donate your time.

We have some great band booster officers that will do anything to help your kid, my kid, and their kid.  I would like for all of us to work together to get our band whatever we need to bring home some more trophies this year at competitions.  We may have a somewhat small band, but we have some talented students and we need to get them what they need to make them even better.

Don't mean to be preaching to the choir, but we have got to work hard this summer to get ready for Marching season.

I really appreciate your willingness to help.

Can I get the phone numbers of the ladies on the fundraising committee? I would like to meet to discuss planning a yard sale. I have several people outside of band that will donate items.  Also, does anyone have an objection to my husband being on the fundraising committee.  He has some really good ideas for us.

Fundraising committee:

Priscilla needs contact information from you and I don't want to give
out any numbers without permission from you so will you please send
Priscilla your contact information.

Priscilla,

I think it would be great for your husband to serve on the fundraising
committee.

Thanks,

Priscilla,

I think a yard sale over the summer is a great idea if you think we
can get enough items donated to do it. The last time we did a yard
sale, we did not price anything because we just did by donation only
and I believe we made $400-$500. You and your committee may want to
do it another way.

Thanks,

Brandy,
Thanks!

To fundraising committee members:

I have several ideas to discuss with all of you. Let me know when you can
meet. The nurses of Greeneville Pediatrics are asking when we are going to
sell Little Caesar pizzas again. They want pizza. My phone number is
234-2010. After school is out, I won't be checking my emails unless I come
to school. I don't have a computer at home.(It died and I haven't replaced
it yet) Plus I can only get dial up internet where I live.

Priscilla

-If I understood correctly when we had the pizza fundraiser going on, it
mentions that kits can be ordered and credited to the organization even
after the "event period". I don't have any idea how much the shipping
is or how it is processed/shipped etc. but we should be able to find out
through the website or off of the forms! If it isn't a bad deal - then
that would be a nice little background fundraiser!!

Oh Yeah, when will we be able to get the Ryans cards?? Will we have
them by graduation? I believe that's the last thing I heard- but I had
told one of my buyers that I heard they were in....so he keeps asking me
about it!!

Thanks,

Priscilla,

I am not on the fundraising committee, but just want to throw ideas
out if the committee wants to check into it.

Snow Cones:
Jonesborough Days (July 4th weekend)
Fun Fest in Kingsport (last 2 weeks of July?)
Appalachian and Greeneville Fair

Meal cards:

Something online sells Papa John cards which is buy one pizza and get
one free. Expiration is 1 year.

Auctions/Bingo:

Antique Car Show: (not sure if much money can be made, Rick Malone may
know about antique car shows.

I let you know if I think of more.

...I just went thru the motions of ordering a pizza kit & it does have a hefty shipping fee...it showed $12.50! So unless it is less for a group order - for instance the Greeneville Pediatrics office- then it probably won't fly.

Have a great day!
