Just wanted to pass along the below link referencing the latest
newspaper article that was printed in the local paper out of Columbia,
MO about the Greek Housing retrofit standoff.

Again, it is very important that we send our letter of support to stop
the repeal of the retrofit ordinance which is already in place and has
been previously approved.

To send your letter by email to the city of Columbia, MO, Mayor and
City Counsel members check out the CR-FSN Google Group post dated
1-2-08 ( http://groups.google.com/group/us-central-region-fire-sprinklers-network/t/99f9e6f376e6389f?hl=en
) and refer to the inserted letter by Mrs. Donna Passantino Henson.

Have a great day.

Good Morning,

I have learned that a recommendation concerning the Greek Letter
Housing retrofit issue in Columbia, MO will be handed to the city
mayor and city counsel board tonight (Jan 07). I want to thank all of
you who where able to send letters of support to not repeal the
ordinance that has been established. Although we are not quite sure as
to what will happen after handed the report, I have learned that there
are several options that may be taken. Here are the options that are
likely:

Accept the report with thanks and take no further action;

Accept the report and request additional information;

Accept the report and set the matter on a future agenda;

Accept the report and set the matter on a future agenda and set a
public hearing date.

Below is the latest link that I have found to an article that is dated
1-6-08 out of Columbia. Please take a look at it.

They need to follow the University of Illinois and Champaign. Champaign passed their ordinance a couple of years ago and have about 60 percent done. Also make sure you talk to Buddy because he told me a couple of months ago that one of the Greek associations announced that they were going to sprinkler their houses and he was working with one of the large Greek insurance underwriters on it.
