A Tale of Two Cities: The Indian Americans Journey

It is with great humility and deep sense of gratitude, I am sharing the
profiles of Rajen and mine with you. I am also attaching the cover of the
book that this write-up appears. You will recognize many others whose
profiles appear in the book.

The coffee table book, titled, "Indian Americans in Greater Los Angeles
Area" was launched yesterday, on Sunday, April 23, 2017, by the mayors of
two cities, the city of Artesia and the city of Cerritos. The location of
the launch was obviously, a hub of Indian American businesses and the home
of many Indian Americans on the West Coast.

The 208 pages book project was chaired by Inder Singh, past president and
chairman of NFIA and present GOPIO Foundation trustee. He had a team of
committed and able individuals who worked tirelessly with him under the
editorship of Sayantan Chakaravarty, who wrote and edited profiles, to
complete the project in few short months.

According to Inder Sigh the book is a compilation of several profiles and
articles of prominent people from all walks of life. He said, It gives the
history of the community through articles on Indian Americans, Indian
businesses, Hotel and Motels, Philanthropy in Southern California and
Indian migration.....It has the profiles of Indian Americans who have made
India and the Indian Americans proud.."

It is heartening to know that many NFIA officers are also participants in
either the coordination of this great project or through inclusion of their
profiles in the book. Just to name a few, present chairman and past
president of NFIA, also a successful businessman, Ashok Madan and past
chairman and president, a philanthropist and entrepreneur Chandu Patel and
current president of NFIA Sudip Gorakshakar. In addition to that several
board members, Kewal Kanda, Vasu Pawar and Dilip Bhutani along with others
who have been either recipient of awards or acknowledged for their credible
work are included in the book. It profiles people, community organizations
as well as professionals and businessmen who are accomplished leaders.

Congratulations to the team for doing all the research on Indian Americans
of Greater Southern California Area.

An accomplishment that must be acknowledged and applauded.
