December’s meeting will be on December 12th via Zoom. There will not be an in-person attendance option. As usual, meeting information will be shared at the beginning of the month.
Thanks,
Amy

Chelsea reports the rally on October 15th at both Uber and Lyft headquarters in San Fransisco went well. The members that attended shared they had a good time and felt the event was successful.
The Parents of Blind Children October event went very well, with as many as 10 families and 39 individuals attending. Dave shared that this was probably the largest group that has attended this far. Thanks to Deb for organizing and leading the weekend and all of the members who volunteered.
The meeting lead by Ben regarding ABLE accounts was held via Zoom, with about 16 people on the call. There is a possibility of using the meeting recording as a resource on our website.
Hunter Kuester is chairing a fundraising committee at the state level. Under discussion for our state convention was auctioning off baskets that chapters would contribute. Our chapter would need to put something together and we’ve been asked to begin sharing ideas for a theme. Chelsea will provide more updates on this committee to our chapter.

There have been six lanes reserved at River’s Edge Bowl on November 24th from 1:00 to 4:00. and there is a maximum of six people per lane (meaning there is space for up to 36 people for the event). Price is to be determined, but it will include shoes. Members may also ask for pledges either as a flat amount or per pin, but this would be above the cost for the event. Chuck will make fliers and Meghan/Chuck will work on pledge sheets. Once these items are available, Amy has agreed to print whatever copies would be necessary. Nikki will be stationed at a check-in table and will be in charge of taking money. Proceeds will be donated to the state affiliate as a combined fundraiser. Please monitor the list servs and social media for further information.
Tina hopes to make contact next week. There was some concern over staff asking a blind guide dog user to leave with no reason. Tina will follow up on this as the concern that they were asked to go due to their dog.
There were some concerns with early voting and ensuring staff are trained on using the accessible machines (namely ensuring that the selection panel is connected). Generally things seemed to have gone well, but more updates will be forthcoming once voting is finished for this season.
This year, our holiday gathering will be at Mac’s Pizza Shack on December 21st from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM. All are welcome regardless of membership status.
Amy suggested that given the updated security of Zoom, she’d like to make the Zoom meeting reoccurring, which ensures that our members will always have the same links and meeting info, making it easier to join. Members agreed and the meeting information will now be the same for all meetings that have a virtual option.
Due to the many commitments of our members, we will hold an all virtual Zoom monthly meeting on December 12th at 7:00. Join information will be shared as usual at the beginning of December.
The Presidential Release was played and is also linked below. In addition, there are also links to past releases and the Braille Monitor.
