This morning at Cape Spear there were many flocks of kittiwakes flying strongly north with the light tail wind. A flock of 180-200 Purple Sandpipers resting on the rocks at the tip was the most I've seen at Cape Spear. Not one eider. No kittiwakes in harbour yet and none on water by Blackhead nesting site.
While watching about 75 robins feeding on the ground by the pond in front of the Health Science Buidling a Sharp-shinned Hawk flew in and nailed one. Life and death photos later on blog. One American and two Eurasian Wigeon present.
