alexander semin spoke up and made a point that there are many othe
rplayers that have greater attributes that do not get the press or do
not get the money that golden boy gets
thanks
If I was a better then average hockey player, in the class of Crosby,
Ovechkin and others, I don't know if I'd be so upset with them getting
all of the spotlight.
i guess you'd miss out on some of the endorsements, but oh well, I'm
getting 5+mill a year (being a better then average player). Dealing with
the media that crosby has to every where he goes, the pressure, etc....
he can have it.

With that said, I do agree with your points Darryl. But thats the way
the media is and always will be. Day to day hockey fans know the truth
but they're not the ones TSN, Sportsnet, CBC and others care about.
They're (day to day fans) a given to watch hockey every time they can.
It's the casual fans, who all they wanna hear about is Crosby, thats who
the media is trying to attract.
Your hatred for Crosby is ALMOST as bad as your new found hatred for Danny
Williams. :-) But I agree with you on this. For the amount of hype and
advertising put into him, he should 20 or 30 goals by now.

Darryl,
I have stayed quiet for a while. I am a Habs fan (laugh if you want), so I
have pretty much ignored previous attempts at goading us into hockey
arguments (I will bite one of these days).
I read the article about the Semin comments as well
(http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/story/?id=254340&lid=sublink012&lpos=headlines_nhl)
I agree with everything he said. Now, I may be in the minority that never
saw anything special in Wayne Gretzky when I started watching hockey
(admittedly 1996, towards the end of his career). Looking back now, I know
he was one of the greatest players to have ever graced the ice, but "all
around" he was not the best. This is the same issue with Crosby.
You look at Semin's team-mate Ovechkin last year, and take a look at his
shots on goals, his hits throughout the season, and other various stats and
I would stand up any day and say that Alex O. is a much better hockey
"player" than Sidney Crosby.
We don't get any notion of that idea, however, because we live in the
Western world, and only players that originate from Canada or the US get any
mention on national broadcasts, because those at the CBC (especially Don
Cherry) think that we can only care about Canadian players.
Yes, it is true that we all want to see the local boy do well, but I will
not stand with the other "brain-washed" fools who will believe everything
the media tells us.
When I read the artcle outlining Semin's comments on Crosby, ESPECIALLY
considering that he named another North American in that same article as
being a superior player than Crosby, I applauded him for having the balls to
say what others haven't.
Crosby ain't all that....
