Just a note to let you know that this was a list I compiled over 10 years
ago and is quite outdated now. I'd be surprised if half of them are correct
by this time. It's the "Top 100+" subset of a 700-frequency database I set
up in a Lotus 123 spreadsheet on a 286. I still have the .WKS file around
here somewhere on a 5.25" floppy if anyone would like a copy. :-)

Radioreference.com, in the DB are all the frequencies and the forums there are a good place to stop (there's an NL section in the atlantic canada subforum).

http://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?stid=105

http://forums.radioreference.com/atlantic-maritime/

RNC are not listenable unless you have an AEGIS capable scanner, which you don't. Also RNC's status of encryption is unknown. Simply using AEGIS doesn't imply the use of encryption.

RCMP on the avalon are analog, but trunked on a system so you'll need at a minimum a scanner capable of tracking it unless you want to deal with all the digital noise at the beginning of each call and all the RNC noise too.

The rest of the province, they're digital p25 which you'll need a digital scanner such as the homepatrol to listen to.

City of St. John's are listenable.

NewDock are listenable.

City of Mount Pearl are not, unless you have a computer running some software to demod the NXDN.

Lots of commercial is listenable. Avalon towing, couriers, etc. If you're close to Stavanger Drive you'll pull in a lot of the GMRS/FRS systems from Costco, Kent if you're nosy.

The Pen is same situation as Mt. Pearl Pub Works.

FD and Ambo are analog and listenable.

The airport is good if you're within 5-6 KM of it, you'll get more then just the tower... Shell, ground ops, terminal ops, ACA ops, etc.

CanadaPost don't use radios anymore, most of the work is contracted out so why bother.

NLPower have them but don't use them.

NL Goverment's LTR system is analog but rather annoying to scan and chatter is minimal except in the mornings or storms.

The HAM guys are always chatting, but unless you have a license and can chat with them, it's a little too 'eavesdroppy' for my liking (as opposed to say the FD/Police where it's a public service and not private conversations...)

FYI, just so people know, Industry Canada has regulations on what you can do with a scanner. Waaaaayy too many people are disclosing information on twitter they get from listening to FD and Ambo's chatter. It's dangerous to do this and illegal. It's for things like this that many systems are switching to methods that can not be listened to, such as NXDN... Heck, there's a cab company using NXDN... a frigging cab company... sad.

There is no "frequency list". Visit Radioreference.com and the databse there has ALL the frequencies and systems in use in town.

No you can't listen to the RNC.
