The Turbot war was a setup to get him elected in Newfoundland and now he is
going with the Federal Gov to go for the Big job in the near future. He was
not learning French to talk to Newfoundlanders. Tobin as Primer did nothing
and I truly believe as Prime Minister he would not do much more than take
care of his own interests. I hope I am proven wrong.

As far as Voisey, Inco is not ready to develop the mineral because of
markets and not Tobin.

The man has no educational background. Even though I hate the Prime
Minister, he is educated as a lawyer. Tobin is extremely talented at
telling the majority of the voting public what they wish to hear.

Please people in his federal riding don't vote for him. Vote for the
Alliance and give some one else a kick at the bucket (the PC are
finished -who left).

Stockwell Day's biography mentions that he "attended the University of
Victoria". No mention of nare degree.

In the meantime, he's been an oil and gas company employee, deckhand on a
trawler, BC government employee, auctioneer, forest industry employee,
community agency worker, assistant pastor in a Christian school,
Alberta provincial MLA (where his contributions to parliamentary decorum
included telling one opposition member "No, I'm not going to talk to you.
Put a sock in it."), and British Columbia MLA.

In other words, he's more of a dilletante than Tobin!

Sounds to me like a wolf (Mike Harris) in sheep's (Preston Manning's)
clothing.

Hi Group:

I am not sure I agree with Rob over the alliance party, anything that new
most definitely could be of no benefit to a nation.
However for the most part the present system seems to be thwarted by an
inside group of radicals bordering on dictatorships. When government leaders
and powers of authority feel they must manipulate the system to force a win
then it is truly time to step down.

The quotes posted by Dale Kirby in another post in this group shines much
light in hindsight of what Tobin was all about.

"The job I want right now is the job that I'm doing - premier of
Newfoundland and Labrador. I want to continue this job and I'm committed
to it for another four or five years". - to Canadian Press, on the first
day of the 1999 campaign.

"I intend to serve out my full term." - Canadian Press quoting Brian
Tobin, on election day, February 9, 1999.

"The people of this province have given me. . . a mandate to work for a
full term of office and I intend to put in a full day, every day for the
full term I've been given on your behalf." - Brian Tobin, speaking on
election night, February 9, 1999.

In recollection of more noted statements, his announcement of some 45
million dollars injected into health care during that election was quickly
destroyed a few short days later after his victory.

Last week a nomination of Bill Mathews was lost because of unfair playing
rules. Are we to believe there was no attempt by party and elected officials
to play dirty to create a loss? Do not believe that for an instant. Our
government of the day is becoming involved in some of the most unfair
politics ever. The Feds are to involved in our process and no one has ever
uttered to the french twisty mouth to stay the hell off our rock.

Tobin had a plan, it was a four year plan, spanned over two elections, right
beside that plan was his background support of the Prime Minister. For the
past several years NF has been able to balance it's books, surplus
announcements right after declarations of deficits. Mystry money falling
from the sky. ACOA, Learning Centres, years of fighting gets nurses more
equality, and all over night. There were foreshadows and many of them to
this new choice of Tobin. Investment and higher transfer payments will not
help those most in need.

Do the liberals really want to impress Newfoundlanders ? Lets see the
multi-million dollar health science centre staffed with more specialist,
lets see the death list shorten for reasons that care was administered
before it was to late to be treated. Lets see the $408.00 rate per month for
qualifying single adults from human resourses increase by 200 percent. Lets
see some regulations to companies hiring part time workers where there is
clearly full time work available. Lets see less competition by foreign
companies setting up shop here in order to take our dollars out of the
province. Lets see this stupid ten year tax break being offered to business
outside this province to set up here destroyed, if our resources are good
enough to come here tax free then let them be good enough to be paid for.
Lets see our home health care workers be paid more. Lets see cheaper and
qualified instruction of our post secondary school students. Graduation from
an applied arts program at a local college should not be a qualification to
teach the same program after graduation.

There are many blunders un-noted. The liberals should be replaced with
honest individuals. Tobin and his government has lied for many years. Will
he do it again from Ottawa ?

What is "Voisey"? Is it any connection to Voisey's Bay?

Ethnic slurs are ethnic slurs, and are not called for whether the person
being slurred is "french", anymore than they would be if they were a
Newfoundlander.

Only if you vote for me and drive me in a chartered bus, helicopters and
boats with lots of expensive wine and food, so I can eat to the music of a
great Newfoundland recording band that just made me a record... OH YEAH and
if half way through the campaign I can take a day off and go to Ottawa and
get a blank void cheque for 45 million dollars, and lets not forget that
wherever I am in the province I can come home each night on a charter
helicopter and sleep with errrr my wife...
