I've never heard of them till I got them mounted on winter rims from
Subaru. Just wondering if they're fit. They're studded and look
pretty good with an aggressive tread. They are made by Fisk. I did a
Google search and found very little.

The thing is when I was making the deal to buy the car I asked for
their winter rim/tire package they sell there thrown in. The tire in
the package was Bridgestone Blizzaks mounted to Subaru steel rims. So
to me I'm getting a cheaper product but if the tires are still good
I'll keep them. Only draw back of the Bridgestone Blizzaks is they're
not studdable.

You don't want the Blizzak. They wear too fast. I think the winters here
are simply too warm here for them. Any amount of travel, especially on
the highway, will wear them down because they're made of very soft
rubber. Great on the prairies and up north...but not here.

Subaru sold me the tire/rim package last year. The tires then were
WinterForce and were fine. I think you're far far better off with the
studded Winterking's than with the Blizzaks.

..

P.S. If you get the rimmed tires taken off/put on the same time as your
regularly scheduled maintenance, you're not charged for the tire
changeover because they take them off anyway to check your brakes.

I figured you would chime in. lol Thanks. Ya I heard that as well with
the Blizzaks. I don't need to be buying winters every year. But I'm
just checking as well as I've never heard of this name before.

Bring on the snow!

I've heard of Fisk before. Think I had some on my Golf a few years ago...

Fourty-two years ago on Monday, we got hammered with almost 30 cm of snow.

P.S. Fisk was bought out by Uniroyal some years ago but still
manufactures tires under the Fisk name.

I've been using soft rubber ice/snow tires on my vehicles for the past 6
years and they do not wear down that quickly. I get three seasons out of
them and there is still plenty of tread on them. These types of tires are
excellent in ice and snow if you don't spend the winter over revving and
spinning your tires burning off the rubber like 90% of the drivers I see
each and every day in the winter. People need to learn to drive in the
winter and then their tires would last a whole lot longer. Spinning tires is
the only reason the majority recommend studded tires.

From my experience, I would recommend Winter King Tires.

I had a set for 5 winters and used them this past summer because they
wouldn't be any of use this winter. And if I wanted, I could get another
summer out of them but I don't want risk my safety. I usually only keep
tires for 4 driving seasons maximum but these tires had excellent tread
wear. I usually drive approx 18,000 km per year. I would definitely buy
another set again, but I think they are hard to find.
