I just had a question, someone had mentioned to me that they sell this
stuff now that you just wash on to your walls ( that have oil paint on
them) then you let it dry, and you can proceed with water paint.? Does
anyone know what it is called or how much it costs?

Thanks

Tamara

@t31g2000cwb.googlegroups.com:

You can get alkyd primer that will let you apply latex over it.
Not sure what this wash on stuff might be though.

When I painted my house I used TSP to wash the walls first. The only
room I didn't wash with TSP (porch) bubbled off within 24hrs.

If I'm not mistaken there is a water based paint on the market that allows
you to paint right over oil paint.

If you are painting water paint"latex" over oil, get an oil primer and tint
it the same color as yu are painting the wall. that can also save you a
extra coat of paint..that is your safest way, to be sure.. I made the
mistake once of trying to paint latex over oil paint,, it was a disaster,,
it all came out in bubbles as it can't penatrate the oil paint and I have to
remove the whole works again. and use an oil primer.... don't make the same
mistake..hope this helps
