Bruce Allan is on the 2010 Olympic Committee and new Canadians
(specifically Hindi's/ Indian's) want him fired for his recent comments
outlined below;
'Subject: Our National Anthem
I am sorry, but after hearing they want to sing the National Anthem in
Hindi - enough is enough. Nowhere or at no other time in our nation's
history, did they sing it in Italian, Japanese, Polish, Irish (Celtic),
German, Portuguese, Greek, or any other language because of immigration. It
was written in English, adapted into co-founding French, and should be sung
word for word the way it was written.
The news broadcasts even gave the Hindi version translation which was not
even close to our National Anthem.
I am not sorry if this offends anyone, this is MY COUNTRY - IF IT IS YOUR
COUNTRY SPEAK UP ---- please pass this along.
I am not against immigration -- just come through like everyone else. Get
a sponsor; have a place to lay your head; have a job; pay your taxes, live
by the rules AND LEARN THE LANGUAGE as all other immigrants have in the
past -- and LONG LIVE CANADA!'
It's time we all get behind Bruce Allen, and scrap this Political
Correctness crap. His comments were anything but racist, but there are far
too many overly sensitive 'New Canadians' that are trying to change
everything we hold dear.
ARE WE PART OF THE PROBLEM!!!! Think about this: If you don't want to
forward this for fear of offending someone, will we still be the Country of
Choice and still be CANADA if we continue to make the changes forced on us
by the people from other countries who have come to live in CANADA because
it is the Country of Choice??????
Think about it!
IMMIGRANTS, NOT CANADIAN'S, MUST ADAPT.
It is Time for CANADA to speak up. If you agree - pass his along; if you
don't agree -- delete it and reap the ill wind because of your complacency

I'm probably going to get in trouble here but I don't even think the
National Anthem should be sung in french. A comedian once said "No one in
this country speaks only french and if I've upset you, bite me, you
understood what I said."

I lived in Quebec for four years. Believe me, there are many who do not
speak a single word of English.

We don't need two official languages. If we do, why stop there? Why not
make ever language with a specific size population an official language?

Where did you get these numbers? Is this one of those "Paul Watson
Statistics" where if you don't have the correct numbers, make something up?

According the the last census (2006), 79.6% of the population in Quebec
are Francophone. That's 5,877,660 people. That's just a little less than
20% of the population of Canada at that time (31 million).
One in five.
That's not counting Francophones that live outside Quebec, specifically
in New Brunswick (32%), Ontario (5%) and Manitoba...which would put that
number of Francophones nationally to roughly 7 million. (22.1% according
to the 2006 census).
Better than one in five.

I agree but it should be sung in English and French.

A comedian eh? I'm no comedian but I have lived in Northern
Quebec and I assure you there are many people there who speak
only French, probably as many as those who live n Newfoundland
and speak only English.

We have two official languages because this country has two
founding nations, England and France. None of the other
languages spoken in Canada are languages of a founding nation of
Canada and therefore cannot be official languages.

i think you forget many other founding nations, the iroquois, the
ojibwa the huron, the inuit, the innu..and others....yet we do not use
their languages in our national anthem...my opinion is this, and it is
neither bigoted or prejudiced...it is simply an observation as i see
it in other countries and throughout history........the war was fought
and won, the english conquered the french...and they let them
stay....and teh english have been bending over backwards ever
since....right up to today, when the french consider themselves to be
distinct....i wish to hear my national anthem in the language of the
conquering nation....english...but i can tolerate the bilingualist
version at least fro a hockey game or two... added to that , the
french had their vote to separate and they lost yet again....i say the
rest of the country should get the set the mandate next time...do we
want them as part of cnanda or not....no better or no worse than any
other canadain.....not french canadian, not hindu canadian, not
italian canadain...just canadian....period

So as of 2008 that's a given. So let's not muddy the waters by
discussion of how few, or how many people speak French only; or French

Respectfully suggest that if/when the number of, say Spanish (Mexican
etc.), or Chinese speaking, people in Canada reach significant
percentages, parlance in certain languages or dialects may enter daily
use in perhaps in certain areas.

Canada would require negotiations more complex than Meech Lake ever
was, which are most unlikely to ever succeed.
But our awareness and alertness to anything that could be divisive of
our existing Canadian societies values and methods is wise, IMO.
Even in well and long established countries, such as Belgium and
Serbia (Kosovo) and also in sub-Saharan Africa, there are far too many
problems due to minority factions not conforming to one (or perhaps
two) agreed upon and Constitutional legal systems and methods of
communication.
Similarly when somebody suggested that Sharia law courts could be
instituted, in Canada, for certain 'family' and legal matters! It
was quickly and correctly IMO, knocked down. On the basis that any
third legal system, on matters that could and and are already covered
by the Canadian Bill of Rights etc. would be Unconstitutional.
So if I were to love and marry a lady who speaks Urdu, or Farsee or
Mandarin and ask her to come and live in Canada, one of the major
considerations would have to be 'How is she going to live and manage
to operate in this country where we speak English and/or French'.
Or I'd have to go and live with her and darn well and pretty quickly,
learn how to speak the local language/s in use there! Otherwise
wouldn't be able to even buy a loaf of bread!
BTW after some 52 continuous years here, my Newfoundland English is
'coming along'; although as a CFA will never be as fluent as a 'real
Newfoundlander'. However most seem to accept my language deficiencies
for which I do try to make amends.

They are not nations within the context of founding nations.
None of them 'founded' the country we know as Canada, they are
the aboriginal people of North America and Canada is only a part
of North America.

ah carter that is slicing and dicing.....thier ancestors "founded the
land" not ours......what we have done with it since is really only
cosmetic, and it suits our purposes to have the the whole official
language thing........it is mere politics...mere pitances of the big
picture...
it wont be long before the white anglosaxon canadian will be in the
minority....what then???....do we again change the anthem and have
more "official languages????

Their ancestors didn't found anything except individual and often
waring tribes which occupied small parts of the land.
