Just wondering if any one has a digitech RP-1 and is having problems with
it. I own one and every now and then the leds fade or blank out all together
and sometimes it actually resets itself to factory presets thus erasing all
my user presets!!! I read somewhere that the reason it happens is because it
gets to hot. The transformer is on the inside of the unit. So just wondering
if anyone else has the same problem and does anyone know how to fix it.
thanks.

It is because it has a CMOS battery under the hood and you need to take out the screws, open it up and replace the CR2032 battery on the motherboard. Mine did this until I replaced it and good as new for the next 5 years.

Had it new since 2002 until now and never have to change the battery, but if you experienced this problem I'd say replace the CR2032 Lithium cell. As for running hot, yes, the thing bakes! There is a solution: I bought a set of small flat washers similar to these: Type: Flat Washer | System of Measurement: Metric | Screw Size (mm): M3 | Inside Diameter (mm): 3.20 | Outside Diameter (mm): 7.00 | Thickness (mm): 0.50), open the bottom cover and lay them in between the body, screw them in one by one leaving about a good 0.5mm of space open all around and it breathes cool!!!

My LED display did just what others are saying . Started fading then completely blanked out . I am taking the obvious advise and replacing the CR 2032 battery , and while I'm at it , I'll use Deox to clean up the board . I do like the idea of putting a spacer between the bottom cover and the main casing to help with the cooling of the system . I'll post how it turns out . Thanks everyone for your great advice .
